To help stem the tide of Texas’
rapidly depleting highway and
road funds, more than 21,000
truck operators paid over one
million dollars into the state road
coffers last year.
The payments were not volun-
tary contributions, but represent-
ed $1,071,387 paid in fines and
additional truck license and re-
gistration fees as a result of the
arrest of 21,577 truck drivers
caught violating the highway
laws.
