at 8 p. m. in the parish hall of
the St Barnabas Episcopal Church.

By train, plane, bus, and boat,
delegates will be travelling to Gal-
veston the 39th annual con-
vention of the Texas Congress of
Parents and Teachers November
19-21. This Is the third time that
Galveston has been host to the
convention, the other times having
been 1932 and 1939.
Those from Denton planning to
attend the convention are Mmes.

The theme of the convention is
“New Frontiers ” Headquarters
will be at the Buccaneer hotel, and
general sessions at the municipal
pier Mrs. E H. Becker of Bren-
ham, state president, will be In
charge.
Highlighting the session will be
the election of officers for the 1947-
50 term. Mrs. J. H. Moore of De-
port is the nominee for state presi-
dent Other nominees making up
the slate are as follows: Vice-pres-
idents — Mrs. H. G. Stinnett, Jr..
Plainview; Mrs. R. M. Carter,
Sherman; Mrs. Mings; Mrs. Odell;
Mrs. Kay; Mrs. C. R. Larimer,

proposed revisions to the state by-

laws pass, the state will be divided
Into eight regions. Aside from the
first vice president, the other vice
presidents will be chosen from
these regions The names on
the first slate will remain the
same, with the addition of two oth-
er vice presidential nominees. Mrs

Mrs. H. F. Godeke of Lubbock.
The four-point program of the
National Congress will be carried
out in the following addresses:
"School Education," Mrs. John E
Hayes, Twin Falls. Idaho, first vice
president of the National Congress;
"Health." Dr D. B. Calvin. Medi-
cal School. Galveston; "World Un-
derstanding.” Dr. Clifford Houston,
dean of students. University of
Colorado; "Parent and Family Life
Education." Dr. Edmund Heinsohn,
pastor of University Methodist
church. Austin.
Syposiums will follow the ad-
dresses on health and parent and
family life education. Workshops
for local units. Councils and dis-
tricts will be conducted. Special
features will be square dance
teams from Austin, a dinner for
the board of managers, a recep-
tion for delegates, and a life-mem-
who bership banquet.

A luncheon meeting of the Wom-
an's Auxiliary of the First Pres-'
byterian Church, USA, will be held 1
Tuesday at 1 p m. at the church,
when the Rev. Joseph J. Cope-
land, pastor, will be speaker. Mrs
H. V. Shepard will lead the de-
votional. There will be special
music.

The marriage of Mrs. Cora Jane
Oroee and O. W. Martin of Denton
was solemnised hers Friday at 10
a. m. at bar home, 815 W. Hickory,

of the immediate families of the
couple.
Vows were exchanged by the
couple before the mirrored mantel
decorated with red roses. Mrs.
Martin was given in marriage by
her son, O. M. Gross of Ban An-

Vermillions On 63rd Anniversary
of Grand Prairie, and Joe Vermil-
lion of Dallas. The sqven daughters
are Mrs R O Stiff. Mrs A W I
Wilson, Mrs. Eugene Howard and
Miss Willie Vermillion, all of Den-
ton, Mrs. O. F. Barnett of Lake
Dallas, Mrs. G. O. Priest of Grand
Prairie and Mrs. May Cote of Van
Alstyne.
Mr. and Mrs. Vermillion have
lived here since Feb. 17, 1948
They came here from Altoga, Col-
lin county, where they had lived
throughout their life time.
They were married in the small
town, which is about nine miles
east of McKinney, on Nov. 12.
1884. Following the wedding cere-
mony, a large wedding supper was
served at the home -of the bride’s
parents Both the father of Mrs
Vermillion and her husband’s fa-
ther were Missionary Baptist min-
isters. She is the daughter of the
late Mr and Mrs. W. H Dunn and
he is son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
H. F. Vermillion of Altoga

smoke grey crepe afternoon frock
accented with a single strand of
pearls, a gift of the bridegroom.
After a short trip the couple will
be at home here at 515 W. Hickory
Street.

mentioned, were Mr. and Mrs. R.
L. Good and daughter, Dora Elean-
or, and son, Louis. Jr., of Tyler,
Mrs. J. D. Moore of Victoria.

Ricks-Jagoe Wedding Held Here At
St Barnabas Episcopal Church
The marriage of Mias Jean Jagoe and Gerald Gilford Ricks was
solemnized Saturday at 8:30 p. m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church,
with the Rev. Homer Rogers officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walker M. Jagoe. 1801
W. Oak, and Ricks is the son of Mrs D. P. Wilson of Pharr.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory
satin fashioned with princess bodice featuring fullness to the sides, and
long fitted sleeves, which tapered to points over the hands. A wide
panel of satin, accented with seed pearl and crystal beading embroid-
ery, extended from the heart-shaped neckline to the hem of the
very full skirt which swept into a train.
The bride's fingertip veil of Im-*
ported bridal Ulusion fell from a '
halo of braided satin. She carried
a bouquet of white roses
lilles-of-the-valley centered
white orchid.
Mias Jane Jagoe attended her
sister as maid-of-honor. Her dress
was of amber faille-taffeta fash-
ioned in Victorian style, and her
long mitts of the same material
as ner gown extended to petal
points over her hands. Her head-
piece was a Victorian hat of gold
veiling, and she carried a muff of
bronse chrysanthemums.
Bridesmaids were Mrs.
W. Jamison, Jr., and Mrs. William
M Russell of Denton. Mrs Wil-
liam Holloway of Austin and Mrs.
Wesley B. Snellgrove of Fort
Worth. Their dresses were of teel-
blue faille-taffeta fashioned in the
same style as that of the maid-
of-honor. They also wore Victorian
hats and carried muffs of bronze
chrysanthemums.
Misses Norma Jo and Mary Sue
Woodrum lighted the altar tapers.
They wore gowns and hats Iden-
tical to those of the bridesmaids.
Everett C. Ricks of Liberty at.
tended his brother as best man.
Other attendants of the bridegroom
were Nicholas J. Stabile, Jr., of
Pittsburgh. Pa . Alonzo W. Jamison,
Jr., of Denton, Martin L. Clayton
and David C. Rembert of Dallas.
Mrs William E. Jones, organist,
presented the music and accom-
panied J. Murray Kendrick, who
sang the hymn, "O Perfect Love,"
as part of the ceremony.
The altar decorations included a
high bank of greenery at either
side, with the altar vases filled
with large white chrysanthemums.
Tall white tapers and bows of satin
ribbon decorated the ends of pews
in the center aisle of the church.
Immediately following the wed-
ding, a reception was held at the
home of the bride's parents.
In the receiving line were the
bride's, parents, the newlywed
couple, Mrs. H. F. Browder, grand-
mother of the bride, Mrs. Sher-
man Grimes of Crawfordsville,
Ind., aunt of the bride, and the
bride's attendants.
Greeting guests at the door were
Mrs. W. R. Blair and daughter,
Rochelle.
The table was laid with a wlte
lace cloth and decorated
bridal motif. The wedding
was four hearts, iced in
and decorated with bride
goom figurines. Bronze chrysan-
themums were used in the living
room.
The wedding cake was served by
Mrs. Elbert Woodrum and Mrs
William Lewis, Mrs. George Pres-
ton and Mrs Bess McCuIlar poured
coffee.
Mr. and Mrs. Ricks will be at
home at 600 Oakland Avenue after
a wedding trip to Monterrey. Mex-
ico. For traveling the bride wore
a soJOy tailored suit of black
gatxrdljie with matching hat and
gloves. Her shoes and bag were of
red alligator. She wore as her cor-
sage a single white orchid.
Mrs. Ricks is a graduate of Den-
ton Senior High School. She at-
tended NTSC and recived a de-
gree fro Purdue University, Lav-
fayette, Ind., in February. Ricks
is a graduate of San Juan Alamo
High School at Pharr, and of
Brownsville Junior College. He at-
tended NTSC, where he was a
member of the Talon fraternity.
