clocked at 38 miles an hour this
morning and are expected to go
as high as 50. Two and 55 hun-
dredths inches of rain fell in two
hours. ,
The big blow has reached
Tampico, Mexico. And it’s high
winds are battering the area.
The Weather Bureau reports the
center of the storm is less than
60 miles from the Mexican city,
with heavy seas and squalls off
the coast.
The Bureau warns that off-
shoots of the storm, squalls and
tidal waves, will sweep the coast
north of Tampico late today and
tonight. Small craft have been
warned to make for safety.

bidden Past” starring vehicle for
Robert ~ydner
and Melvyn Douglas. ' ,
Miss Gardner has the role,of
an imperious Southern-beauty in-
fatuated with a handsome Yan-
kee doctor, but unable to do
much about it because of her
straitened fiances. When an un-
expected inheritance makes her
wealthy, she promptly uses the
money in a cold-blooded cam-
paign to get rid of the doctor’s
new bride so that she can marry
him herself — a scheme that
leads the dramatic consequences.
Mitchum is seen as the doctor,
and Douglas is cast as the hero-
ine's unscrupulous cousin, with
Lucile' Watson and Janis Carter
featured. Showing at The Simon
