SIMON THEATRE
Following the popular success-
es of "The West Point Story” and
"Tea For Two," Doris Day and
Gordon MacRae are again united
In “On Moonlight Bay," Warner
Bros.' musical drama which mak-
es its local debut at Simon Thea-
tre Sunday and Monday.
Filmed in color by Technicolor,
the romantic comedy is set
against a background of an In-
diana college town made famous
by Booth Tarkington’s P e n r o d
stories. The plot concerns Doris
Day as a young tomboy who
would rithcr play baseball than
indulge in romance—until Gor-
don MacRae comes upon the
scene. From then, on the film un-
reels a variety of comic abla-
tions.
Most of the songs in “On Moon-
light Bay" are classics which
have remained cver-p o p u 1 a r
through the years.
MRS. TRAVIS PHILLIPS
HONORS JOAN SCHMID
WITH FLOWER PARTY
An appropriate “ftower wed-
ding" theme was developed by
Mrs. Travi* Phillips when she
entertained a group of Miss Joan
Schmid's friends as a pretty com-
pliment to the bride-elect of
Owen Henry Zeiss, nephew of t**t yourtg
hostess. Seasonal flowers in pas-
tel shades, candles, and magno-
lia leaves provided beautiful (jec-
orations, with wedding bells giv-
ing the bridal note. Every ap-
pnlntment reflected, the wed di n g
flower motif.
The refreshment table present-
ed th£ appearance of a mass of
wedding flowers, with pastel
shaded candle* and a border of
glossy magnolia leaves. Each
antique flower plate simulated a
flower on which were served de-
lectable hors d'ouevres, pastries,
cakes, and mints in weddipg’bell
design, with frosty cokes.
