And 1 reck not of years that have faded away.
As they were to me then, they are still in my heart,
For Time and his scythe in this scene have no part
And the rays of the soft mellow candle-light shine
On each loved, loving face as I glance down the line,
And twinkling feetflasho’er the smooth gleamingfloor,
There’s the long oaken table, so lavishly spread,
With grandsire enthroned at his place at the head.

The Closing Year
. ft* -t
We take much pleasure in thanking our friends for whatever share
they have given us of their business and for anything else they
have done toward making our year the success it has been.
We make it our purpose to dea 1 fairly, courteously and promptly
with all who patronize us in any way , and solicit future business upon this
meritorious basis.
And now we wish for everyone a merry, merry Christmas and a hap-
py and prosperous new year.

It is with pleasure that we are able
to tell the public this year that the
railroad crossings in the business dis-
trict have been nicely paved and
motorists can now drive* over the
trucks without fear of being jolted
out of their cars. Every December
since the paving was started we have
held out hopes that soon the railroad
crossings would be in keeping with
remainder of the streets, but it was
not until 1927 that that was accom-
plished. Navasota has as fine paved
area as any small city in Texas.

The Examiner Review is quite
hopeful that within a very short time
Navasota will be listed with those Tex
as cities having free mail delivery.
This Is a convenience that has been
worked for by many individuals as
well as organizations, and yet it has
been slow coming notwithstanding the»
fact that the Government quite a long
while ago conditionally grafted free
mall delivery in Navasota. The Cham-
ber of Commerce, the Kiwanls Club
and the Women’s Civic Club have
been active in securing mall delivery • t^at
