SUBSTITUTE BILL
Rep. Tony Korioth of Sherman
introduced a bill (HB960) to abol-
ish the present state franchise tax
and substitute a 3 per cent cor-
porate income tax Korioth said
the tax would raise 345 million
a year more than the franchise
tax.
A 1 per cent gross receipts tax
on persons and firms dealing in
products from outside Texas and
sold in the state is proposed in
a bill (HB941) by Rep. Sam Col-
lins of Newton
Increasing tuition in state col-
leges from 350 to 3100 a semester
was proposed (HB933) by Rep.
Frank McGregor of Waco. Out of
state students would pay 3250 a
semester. The increase would be
effective next Sept. 1.
