Has Reunion
Sun., June 16
The 1968 reunion of the
late John Irwin family was
held at the Community Cen-
ter building June 16 at Rek-
law.
A delicious dinner and a
day of fe'lowship was enjoyed
by all.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Akin

Miss Wanda Joyce Parsons
became the bride of Alvis
Matthew Gaddis, Jr. in an im-
pressive candlelight cere-
mony at Rusk First Baptist
Church at 6;30 Saturday ev-
ening, June 22. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. Cleland
Parsons and the late Mrs.
Parsons of Rusk, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. A. M. Gaddis, Sr. of
College Station.
Rev. Grover Talbert, pas
tor of Rusk First Baptist
Church, officiated forthedou
ble ring ceremony perform-
ed before an altar of South
ern smilax covering the choir-
rail, on either side of which
were two columns topped
with urns of white gladioli
and majestic daisies. Green
cry and burning white can
dies also med the orpm and
piano rails. Centered in the
background of the altar area
stood a tall spiral candle
tree holding some seventy
lighted tapers.
Family pews were mark
ed with white s it in bows en
twined with greenery.
Wedding music wa . pro-
vided by Mr>. Charles Hin-
ton, Jr., who sang "Whether
Thou Goest" and "Wedding
Praver". She was accompani-
ed by Mrs. I >on Crysup at
the organ.
The bride, ^iven in mar
riage by her father, wore a
floor length gown designed
with an A line skirt ofpanels
of white Chant illy lace over
ueau ie sole and a lace Lin
lire bod Le and matching lace
•hajiel train. Her shoulder
¡ength veil was attached to

Mrs. Billy Burrows of Rusk
was matron ofhonor. She wore
a floor-length l.mpire dress
of turquoise peau de soie
with a Venice type lace bod
ice and floor length floating
panels of chiffon simulating
a train. Her bouffant head
piece was of rnatchins* or
gan/a. She carried a nose
gay of stephanotis, fleur de
amour, and white roses.
Terry Gaddis of Mount F1
easant served his cousin as
liest man.
Ushers, and also lighting
the candles preceding the ce-
remony, were Bill Foster of
College Station and Bardin
Nelson Jr. of Houston.

Mrs. James eiiiton, aunt
of the bride, chose for her
niece's wedding a beige ^ i Ik
blend suit with matching ac-
cessories. She wore a white
glamella corsage.
Mrs. Gaddis, mother of the
groom, wore i soft gold color
ed ensemble with matching
accessories. Hercorsage was
also a white glamelia.
Immediate'y following the
ceremony a reception, cater-
ed by Mrs. Wayne Walker of
Palestine, was held in the Fel-
lowship Hall of the church.
In the houseparty were Mrs,
Alfred Vander StuckenofVic-
torii, Mrs. Bobby Doggett
of Houston, Miss Cathy Clif-
ton of Tyler, Mrs. Dan Da-
vis of College Station, and
Mrs. Forrest Dyess, Miss
Betty Matlock, Mrs. Walter
Courtney, Mrs. Joe Parsons,
and Mrs. Jeff Lovelady, all
of Rusk.
The bride's table, draped
to the floor with a white net
'derskirt and edged in baby
smilax, was centered with
an arrangement in a nine.,
branch silver candlelabra
flanked on either side with
a three-branch candlelabra.
On one end of the table was
the traditional tiered wed
ding cake, stacked on swan
divider- and decorated with
spun-sugar roses and lilies
of the valley. The cake base
was of pleated satin ribbon
and tulle. On the opposite
end was the silver punch bowl
and twin compotes of mints.
All appointments were of sil
ver and crystal.
Cn the register table, with
i cover identical to that of
the bride'- table, was a dou
ble wedding ring holding tiny
bags of turquoise rice and
the bride's book. The bou-
quets of the bride and nia
tron of honor served as the
floral arrangement.
Palm trees and the floral
arrangements used in the ch-
urch completed the decora
tions for the reception.
For her going >wayensem
ble, Mrs. G >d 'i- wore a navv
and white sun with white ac-
cessories, an' Iter corsage
was the orchil from her bou-
quet.
Mrs. Gaddi- i- a graduate
of Rusk nigh school and step
hen F. Austin State College.
She has taught in Port Ar
hnr and in Jacksonville and
is to teach in Richardson.
Mr. Caddis is a graduate
of AfcM Consolidated and at-
tended Texas a&MUniversity
and North Texas State L'ni-
erslty. He is now employed
by Texas Instruments in Dal.
las. The couple will make
their home in Richardson.
REHEARSAL DINNER
Followtng the rehearsal on
Friday night, Mr. and Mrs,
A, M, Gaddis, Sr., parents
of the groom, were hosts
to a dinner at the Pineview
Restaurant honoring the cou-
pit. Cn the htadtable was a
spring bouquet, and runners
of greenery centered the re-
maining tables, place cards
decorated with turquoise sa-
tin ribbon end stephanotis
marked the places for some
twenty guests.
