Grain growers who had seed in
the ground were highly pleased
with the rainfall this week, several
who were questioned Tuesday af-
ternoon said. Fear that only a
slight raig would fall at this reason
which would sprout the grain just
enough to be burnt by a continu-
ance of the drought. had kept a
number ol farmers from fall sow -
ing but the rainfall was heavy
enough to be of much benefit.
Estimates Tuesday were that
from one-third to one-half of the
fall grain had been sowed, and it
was believed that as soon as it was
dry enough to permit, most of the
