The International Sculpture
Symposium in Liberty Hill is a
Bicentennial celebration pro-
ject under the direction of Mel
Fowler.
Fowler has brought sculptors
from many foreign countries to
downtown Liberty Hill to work
on chiseling rock into art forms
to be displayed around the
Liberty Hill Farmer's Market.
One of Fowler's works is now
on display in the market area,
and many can be seen in
Fowler's shop.At Liberty Hill's
BicentennalCelebration on
November 30, other works can
be seen which are now under
the chisel.

Gustavo Oroza, oboe, accom-
panied by Miss Pamela
Gregory, pianist. Oroza will
perform Schumann's
"Romance, No. 1, Opus 94" and
Handel's "Sonata in C Major"
(Adagio, Allegro, Adagio,
Allegro).
Reed, a candidate for
graduation from the School of
Fine Arts in the spring, is ma-
joring in piano and minoring in
organ. She has been presented
in numerous recitals as soloist
and accompanist for other per-
formers on the university cam-
pus and elsewhere in the state.
She is studying piano with Miss
Drusilla Huffmaster and organ
with R. Cochrane Penick, both
of the music faculty in the
School of Fine Arts.
Memberships for Reed dur-
ing her collegiate career in-
clude Southwestern Singers,
Opera Theatre, Cardinal Key,
Delta Zeta sorority, Young
Republicans and Delta
Omicron, serving Delta Nu
chapter of the international
professional music fraternity "
as treasurer.
Gustavo Oroza, a freshman
majoring in music with oboe as
an area of concentration, is a
member of the Southwestern
Sinfonietta , and the
Southwestern Symphonic
Band. He is studying oboe with
Raymond Schroeder of the
music faculty in the School of
Fine Arts.
Prior to enrolling at
Southwestern University this
fall, Oroza held membership in
the Bolivian Symphony
Orchestra and was presented as
soloist with various Bolivian
orchestras, as well as in
numerous other concerts. He
was the recipient of the first
prize in the Bolivian National
Contest for Young Musicians.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Alfredo Oroza, La Paz, Bolivia.
Pamela Gregory, accom-
panist for Oroza's numbers on
the program, is part-time in-
structor in piano. A graduate of
Southwestern University in
music. Miss Gregory has done
graduate work at the Universi-
ty of Texas at Austin. She
serves as musical director for
Delta Nu Chapter of Delta
Omicron, and also teaches in
the Preparatory Music Depart-
ment.
A reception will honor the
recitalists in the Gallery of the
Alma Thomas Fine Arts Center
immediately following the—
program.
FAR — Marianna Reed,
pianist, will be presented in her
senior recital on Wednesday,
November 10, at 8:00 p.m. in
the Alma Thomas Theatre. The
public is invited.
Reed will play Bach's
"Italian Concerto" (Allegro,
Andante, Presto) and
• Debussy's "Pour Le Piano"
FAR — Claude Kennard,art
historian in the School of Fine
Arts, gave an illustrated talk
entitled "Roses of Yesterday
and Today" for members of the
Taylor Study Club yesterday in
Taylor.

Drusilla Huffmaster, artist-
in-residence and associate
professor of piano, will perform
works of Chopin, Barber, Lucas
and Griffes for the Junior
League Friday Musicale of
Houston on a luncheon program
tomorrow at the Junior League
Building in Houston. The
program is a bicentennial
tribute to the late Miss Ima
Hogg, philanthropist and
patroness of the arts.

R. Cochrane Penick, harp-
sichordist and organist, will be
guest artist for the annual
scholarship program sponsored
by the Navasota Music Club
next Wednesday, November 10,
in the Navasota High School
auditorium.
The program will include a
harpsichord demonstration-lec-
ture and will feature music of
Scarlatti, Couerin, Zipoli and
Purcell.
