This time it beata previous

n ginned on June 30th. Duval
of the entertainment tbs will state for
the Information of the public that it
was given for the benefit of the Uni-
form Hank Knights of Pythias of Hee
ville, to defray the expenses of the
division to the grand triennial encamp-
ment to be held at the city of Washing
ton next summer. They hope to win a
prize offered to the division which
travels the longest journey by the short-
est route to reach the encampment. As
there will be cousiderable expense at
tacbed to the trip the knights are tak-
ing time by the forelock to raise funds
to help pay their expenses. The visit
of the di viaion to Washington city will
be a good advertisement for Beeville,
as well asa pleasant excursion for the
knights, Of course ths barbecue was
free, but the profits from' the sale of
privileges on the grounds, entries at the
tournament and the bajl were some-
thing over 8100.

growing. The last day I attended, June
29th, attendance was some 150,000. In
addition to the attraction in the expo-
sition grounds proper about all of
which are free, in Midway Plaisance
are a great many special attractions
which are charged extra for, some are
good and some are fakes, but a general
admission of 50 cents admits to all
public exhibits, buildings and grounds.

by a grand ball at the opera house in
the evening and an ice cream festival
in the court yard. Both were well at-
tended and successes. Especially was
thebill a brilliant affair. It gathered
together the largest crowd of dancers
seen on the door in this city for years.

furnished the music and all went merry

the day was well spent and the affair
was a creditable one to Beeville. Near-
ly all the air knights wore indefatigable
in their efforts to make It a success, but
