Linen is in the fashion spotlight
again this spring. But heed these
words of advice if you want to
keep your linen fashions crisp and
cool.
Linen is washable, but it can
shrink if it has not been preshrunk
by the manufacturer. As with all
textile apparel, check the label
before laundering.
To wash linens in a washing ma-
chine, use warm water and a short,
gentle cycle. Dry garments on a
clothing rack or hanger. If the

drycleaner, it can be cleaned and

linen garments. Be sure to have all
the pieces of your linen outfits
drycleaned at the same time to
avoid color differences.
Don’t try to remove stains your-
self. Blot up any spill and have the

Saturday, May 18 when people of all
ages and from all over South Texas
participate in a variety of fun
activities — all for the benefit of
Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital.
If you want to ride horses, play
carnival games, win prizes, watch
bull riding, race armadillos, dance,
listen to good country sounds, or
just eat and come out for the good of
the children — then the 8th Annual
Children’s Trail Ride and Benefit
Dance and Carnival is for you!
All of this fun, in one place and in
one day, is being brought to the
people of San Antonio and South
Texas thanks to Trail Ride
volunteers and the Credit Unions
for Kids. Both groups are major
sponsors of the Children’s Miracle
Network Telethon benefitting Santa
Rosa Children’s Hospital. Last year,
the Telethon raised over $1 million
— a first in San Antonio for charity
fundraisers. The $1 million is raised
thanks to people such as the Trail
Riders and Credit Unions who join
forces and have as their motto
“People Helping People.” Approx-
imately 60 local and area credit
unions participate in raising funds
for the hospital year-round.
