the tables turned as on the
next pass play, Tom May-
nard intercepted and return-
ed it to the 32. Navasota
picked up three first downs
and punted to the 20 yard
line. One first down was all
the Leopards could muster
and they quick kicked to the 3
yard line. John Mode was re-
sponsible for the 56 yard
boot.
On the Rattlers first try,
they were trapped behind the
goal line and the Leps had a
safety and a 26-0 lead.
The final quarter was
played mostly in Leopard
territory, but the staunch
Leopard defense held, never
giving in to the Rattlers.
The victory, was the first
conference success for the
Leopards. This week they
play Kemp in Bryan Saturday
night.

Funeral Home in Temple
Friday afternoon at three
o’clock. The Rev. Father
Pete Hopeus officiated, and
burial was in the Bellwood
Memorial Park. Nick Mor-
ris, supreme president of
the SPJST, was in charge of
the SPJST service at the
funeral chapel.
Mrs. Kollha was born in
Oakland on Nov. 11, 1908, the
daughter of the late Joseph
and Josephine DostalMakoy-
sky. On Feb. 21, 1930, she
was united in marriage with
Mr. Kollha in Sinton. They
lived in Beeville until 1943
when Mr. Koliha became tre-
asurer of the supreme lodge
of the SPJST then located in
Fayetteville. In 1953 they
moved to Temple when the

dazzle manuevering set them
up on the 10 yard line. Two
carries by Simmons and the
Leps had scored again. Citz-
ler’s kick was good and there
was only 13 seconds left on
the dock.
In the first half the Leop-
ards had 12 first downs; Na-
vasota; 4. They passed 18
times and completed 10 for
a total of 166 yards. Nava-
sota tried 10 passes and com-
pleted 4 for a total of 26
yards. The Leps had 75
yards rushing while the Rat-
tlers had only 37. Without a
doubt, it was the Leopards
ball game.
The second half opened
with as much action. Nava-
sota tried two plays and
fumbled on the third. LaGr-
ange recovered. Things
looked great as Mode moved
to within the 10 yard line, but

Minton was good for seven
and Simmons for eight. A Na-
vasota penalty aided the
cause and La Grange had it
on the 14 from where Sim-
mons scored again. The try
for points tailed and La Gr-
ange led 17-0 with 4 minutes
and 16 seconds before half-
time.
After Navasota couldn’t

one for 15 yards brought the
ball to the 38. The Leps lost
yardage and were forced with
a fourth down try on the 35.

stead passed complete to
