Absentee voting
below normal ~
in Denton County
Absentee voting may be headed
toward a new low for Denton County.
■ Some 550 persons had cast absentee
ballots by the end of the day Thur-
sday, and the absentee polls close at 5
| pm today.
That is only about one-fourth of
more than 2,000 absentee voters in the
. last general election in 1976 and less
than absentee voting in the party
primaries in May of this year
County Clerk Mary Jo Hill listed 481
absentee voters at the Carroll Courts
Building polling place and about 70
who have voted at the government 2
center in Lewisville.
In the May primary election, she
said 603 absentee votes were tallied,
and in the 1976 election - a
presidential election year — there
′ were 2.078 absentee ballots cast.
