the two will play early next
week to see which team earns
the right to play Boerne in the
first round of the playoffs.
On Tuesday, Monica De-
schaine led the team in kills
with 15, Katie Novak had a
team-high 15 assists, Beth
Owens finished with 13 digs,
and Anna Kerr recorded five
blocks.
The Lady Hounds close out
the regular season Friday at
home when they host Kerrville
at 6:15 p.m. Friday’s match is
also “Parent’s Night.”

The Bobcats competed with
all their runners in the varsity
division and came away with
fourth place behind Fredericks-
burg, Del Valle and Mason.

Calen Kucera and Robert
Castro both earned medals
from among 56 racers. Kucera
has medaled in all but one meet
this season and was Sth in a
time of 18:31 over the 3.2-mile
course. Castro medalled for the
first time to validate his contin-
ued improvement into one of
the top five runners for the 'Cat
Pack'. Castro's time was 19:07
for 15th place.

Bobcats race at Round Top
ROUND TOP - The Comfort
Bobcats ran with the eastern
edge of Class 2A Region-IV -
and then some - when they
traveled to Round Top for the
Festival Hill Cross Country In-
vitational held Saturday, Oct.
15. -
Comfort came out fourth in
the team standings among 16
teams, half of which were 2A
schools from the region. Seven
Lakes, the newest 5A school in
the Katy ISD, was first, fol-
lowed by 2A Brazos, 3A Bel-
lville, and then Comfort. There
were five other 2A schools be-
hind the Bobcats.
Calen Kucera gave the 'Cats a
medal winner with an eighth-
place finish of 17:01 among
119 racers. Kucera's time is a
CHS school record for any
course the 'Cats have been part
of.
Hunter Carter just missed
adding some hardware for
place in a season-best time of
17:49 while Robert Castro at
18:39 and Aaron Guzman at
18:43 finished 39th and 40th,
respectively in personal bests.
Tim Warlow, a member of the
varsity football 'Cats, managed
a 19:27 for 59th place, while
Waylon Hastings may have
placed himself in a good spot
for the team's seventh spot at
district when he came in 60th in
a time of 19:30 - also a- season
best.
Steven Spinks continues to
make improvement as well in
his second year of running.
Spinks broke under 20 minutes
for the first time ever with a
time of 19:55, which was good
for 75th. Freshman Luis Cas-
tro, in only his third race since
coming off an injury, posted a
personal best of 20:44 for 88th.
Anthony Carson was 94th in a
time of 21:14 and freshman
Trey Richmond, also in his
third week of running since
being injured, managed to beat
three athletes from Class 3A
Caldwell, Cameron and Rice
with his time of 24:22 - one
minute better than his previous
race.
Comfort will have one final
prep before both the 'Cats and
Deer defend last year's champi-
onships when they compete in
the Seguin Invitational on Sat-
