Toohey receives honor at Ole Miss
For her excellence both on the
court and in the classroom, Ole
Miss volleyball player Jaclyn
Toohey was recently named the
Allstate Insurance Student-Ath-
lete of the Week. Toohey is a
2003 graduate of Boerne High
School where she lettered all
four years, earning third team
All-State honors her senior year.
Ole Miss volleyball coach Joe
Getzin had described her as a
team leader. He said she was
ready to break out this season.
Toohey, a junior, has shown that
she is more than just a leader
this season. She has become the
most consistent player on the
Ole Miss team.
Toohey is a feisty competitor
that brings plenty of experience
to the Lady Rebels. She is the
most prolific attacker on the
team. Last season she tallied
2.87 skills per game. Toohey
turned in a season high 16 kills
Toohey was instrumental in
leading the Lady Rebels to their
most recent victory over
Arkansas State in September.
She tallied 11 kills on the night
and notched a .304 attack per-
centage. Toohey tied her career
high with 23 kills against South
Alabama and also hit .327. In
the Magnolia Classic, she tallied
15 kills and hit .367 versus na-
tionally ranked Texas. For the
season, Toohey has posted dou-
ble digits in kills 12 of 16
matches and ranks second on
the team with 3.21 per game.

The Boerne High School boys varsity basketball team brought home another trophy
from a tournament in Corpus Christi on Oct. 15-16. The boys, who begin their regular
season on Nov. 7, played against 5A teams from around the state and did an out-
standing job with some help from their coach Jeff Burdick. Team members (i-r): Eric
