ANOTHER BIG PRO-
GRAM FOR THE WEEK
Starting this week with Thurs-
day and this same big comedy
drama for Friday which will
certainly make you laugh. "Wet
Paint" is Raymond Griffith's
first "dressed - up big - city
comedy" since "Forty Winks".
It is a farce made oa the same
lavish scale that governs the film-
ing of Paramount's big spectacles
Chuck-full of laughs, grasps and
pretty girls, "Wet P.iint" is
sure to please the Audiences.
For Saturday we have a
change in our monthly programs
which read "Slave of Fashion"
but will show that picture at a
later date. In the place we have
secured another big Comedy-
Melodrama, "Sally, Irene and
Mary", with Constance Bennett,
Joan Crawford and Sally O'Neil
■who played the leadiDg part in
"Don't". Tha story deals with
the depicts lives of three Chorus
girls who sport gaily in the city's
night life, herbine finally settling
down with a humble lover.

Lyons and Frank Mayo. "The'
Necessary Evil" is a modern
society drama that leaps back
and forth between New York and
the tropic and shows the re-
generation of a son upon whom
fallen the evil ways of his father.
Tuesday and Wednesday the
screens change to the West.
Zane Grey's new story "Desert
Gold" with Robert Frazer and
Shirley Mason iin the leading
parts. Desert Gold is directed
by George B. Seitz who gave the
screen "The Vanishing Ameri-
can". The story is laid in the
nineteenth century when many
lawless men as well as those
who sought to develope the
country, were attracted to this
locale. Into this maelstrom
arrives the son of a New York
millionaire who after some close
shaves escapes with a girl into
the Painted Desert and there,
amid exciting experiences, finds
* old and real love. Next week

sick. She is some better at this
writing we are glad to note.
Frank Verunac, Jr., deputy
Tax Collector of Colorado Coun-
ty was a pleasant caller at our
office Wednesday.
Mrs. H. M. Phillip who has
been away for some time is
again back in the city.
Mrs. Louisa Seydler of Gon-
zales is here visiting her dangh-
ter, Mrs. 0. G. Blohm and fam-
ily-
Miss Isabelle Seydler of Hous-
ton come in Monday for a visit
with her cousin, Mrs. 0. G.
Blohm and family.
Miss Pearl Holland of Fort
Woithis the guest of Miss Her-
tha Gral and other friends in
our city.
Mrs. Robert Kallus and little
daughter of Sugar Land visited
with relatives and friends in our
city this week.
Bern. Wind, wife and son,
Isidor motored to Houston the
first of the week to spend a few
days with relatives and friends.

spent last week visiting with
relatives and friends in Temple,
Cameron, Granger, Taylor and
Austin.
Mrs. Willie Peterson of Hous-
ton spent a few days in the
Frey burg section visiting rela-
tives and friends.
A great picnic was enjoyed by
the Methodist Sunday School at
Praha Lake last Friday. The
children had a fine day.
Fred. L. Muehr left for Sugar
Land where he is employed at
the Imperial Bakery and will
make his home there.

and Mis. Franz Muehr, Sr., left
for SugarLand Tuesday morning
Louis and Nfais wife returned
Wednesday while his mother re
mained for a longer visit with
her daughters and son. " ^
Otto Prizlas , Henry Huebner
and Otto Winkler left Monday
morning via the automobile route
for Amarilla, Texas, where they
went to work in the wheat fields
of West Texas. They expect to
be gone about three months.
Henry Huebner spent three
months last summer out there.
Operations
John Barborak, prominent
farmer who resides a few miles
north of our city was taken to
the Kenny Sanitarium at San
Antonio last week where he
underwent a very serious opera-
tion for intestinal troubles, gall
bladder and appendicistis. Last
reports are that he stood the op"
eration very well and is resting
and doing as well as coiild be ex
pected. It is sincerely hoped
this good man will soon be re-
stored to his normal good health.
Albert, youner [son of Ig.
Marik of East Bernard, was
brought to Schulenburg last
Monday to have his tonsils re
moved by Dr- Zvesper. He left
Tuesday afternoon.

our city the past week the guests
of relatives and friends.

lieves in improving and beautify
ing around his home, the past
week cut]all the weeds and ©lean-
ed the ditch in front of his pret-
ty home, which improved the
looks of same materially. Now
is a good time for more of our
citizens to follow suit and destroy
the weeds, the .breeding places
of the mosquitos.
Friends:
Regulations governing the
manufacture and distribution of
ice have been issued by the state
board of health. The regulations
are:
Water from which ice is made
must be obtained from a known
safe supply.
Vats, operating floor, vaults,
plant surroundings and delivery
wagons must be kept clean.
Proper bathing and toilet facil-
ities must be proviled for em-
ployes.
Storage rooms must be kept
clean and free from rotten or
decaying fruit*, vegetables or
meats.
Care should be taken that filth
is not brought to the operating
floors on ihe shoes of workers.
All operators aud ice handlers,
including food handlers, baker-
ies^sutcher sbops, barbers, ho-
tels- socJfc^ountains and restau-
rant ownersali'^^nployees must
have health certificrS&gs from re-
putable physicians.
Clothes of employees musif?
clean, and it is preferable that
the clothing be made of white
material.
Samples of .Water from which
ice is made must be examined
bacteriologicall.y at least once a
month by local laboratory, or
may be examined free of charge
by the laboratory of the state
health department.

A visit to the pretty home of
Photographer Herzik in the
southern part of town will con-
vince any one that Mr. Herzik i*
not only the best photographer
in this section of the state but
reveal to you that he is skilled
along other lines. In his yard
he Jhas strawberries, peaches,
apples, pears, grape fruit,
oranes, blackberries,dewberries,
and probably other fruits we
cannot recall just now, [and a
large variety of pretty flowers.
A1 fiedF'.ocke, Chas. Baumgar-
ton, Oscar Brown and Chas. Ma-
tula spent Saturday night fish-
ing down below ElCampo. They
report a good time catching lots
of fish, they brought back with
them one 24 pound catfish and
several others arouhd 16 pounds
each. They caught something
like a hundred pounds of fish
Saturday night.
Scholarship For Sale
The Sucker office has two
scholarships for sale, one at
Draughon's Business College,
the other at the Texas Com-
mercial College, San Antonio.
Either of these are good for a
business education, shorthand,
bookkeeping accounting, etc.
Positions awaiting graduates.
