Coleman Elementary's celebra-
tion of Black History month was
a tribute to Black Americans and
to American herself. Using stories
and student presentations,
Coleman's faculty, staff and stu-
dents celebrated with their hearts
and mind a wonderful part of
America's historical and present
culture.

Sheila Ruffin is the mother of three children
whose ages are 15, 9, and 7. She works as
a substitute teacher in CISD, volunteers to
help teachers, and is a parent representative
for the Site Base Committee at Coleman
Elementary. She believes thatparent involve-
ment is essential for a successful school.
