Belle Vue Feb 21 st. 1817--
Dear Sir,
When I was in St Genevive last week I drew on
you in M. Ruggles Hams-for Nine Dollars eighty seven and §9
1/2 cents in favor of William Morrison which you will
please accept and place to his account I expect I shall
be dowm in that Settlement in about 15 or, 20, days and
shall request a little money as the Maj has many calls
for money in these days—perhaps you thought it a little
singular that I should leave your house the evening I
was there, the reason was this I did not wish to be com-

pel to stay with people who weze drinking as much whis-
key as those you left at your house, who had, or took the
liberty to replenish their Bottle at theirpleasure there-
fore I hope you will ezcuse me as that was the ohly reason
for my departing—
