Very pearly have the homes of the Texians, been acquired in
this country which but a short time since was a wAldemess, infest-
ed with hostile Indians— It is national and just thrt they qpuld
wish to present thom in conformity with the garantecs of the fed-
eral compact under which they wtie acquired-- it is equally so that
they should obey the first 1 w which God has stamped up/on the heart

a provisional local Govt, to provide for its security, ac a p^rt of

And can it be possible that the whole nation will declare^war
against us, because we wish to comply with our oaths in favor of the
constitution, and becausc we wish to defend the rights which God
has given to us, and which the Mexican nation has solemnly garanteed^
