ALPHA DELTA PIS GO ON PICNIC
The Alpha Delta Pis celebrated
Founders Day, May 15, 1851, with
a picnic , at the Old Settlers'
grounds. They left the Annex
Wednesday afternoon about 4
o'clock, returning before darkness
found them outside the Annex
walls. Needless to say the most en-'
joyable feature of the occasion was
the "eats." The kodak was used
quite freely and in all it was a most
enjoyable outing. Those present
were the active chapter and Mrs. C.
C. Cody, Jr., Miss Mamie Howren
and Miss Ruth Hightower.

STUDENTS VOTE UNANIMOUSLY
TO HAVE MILITARY TRAINING
Tlie men of the University in con-
vocation Thursday morning, at the
suggestion of President McDaniel,
heartily endorsed by Dean Pegues
and others, voted as a body to start
voluntary military training for the
remainder of the school term. The
several students who have attended
military schools, will direct the
drill and instruct the "dough-
boys." This move is to prepare
the men for the Government in-
struction which will begin next
September. It is expected that
that who take the drill will be in a
position to hold student commis-
sions next fall.
At a meeting Tuesday morning
after chapel, H. L. Egger was elect-
ed captain. He lias had three years'
experience in military college and
is well qualified to direct the man-
euvers of the drill. He will select
his lieutenants and name his non-
coms this week. There will be four
hours drill each week, from 7 to 8
p. m. on Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday, beginning
today.
COACH LIONEL MOISE SIGNS
WITH DALLAS GIANTS
Lionel Moise came to Southwes-
tern last fall at the beginning of
the football training camp. With
only three "S" football men back
as a nucleus around which to build
a team, Mr. Moise showed remark-
able .skill and persistence in putting
out one of the hardest fighting foot-
ball teams in the State. '*
His capability for taking raw ma-
terial and developing skilled play-
ers, was best maniftsted in basket-
ball. In this department of ath-
letics there was not a single letter
man who returned. Practice was
not begun until late, and as a result
the first few games were not all vic-
tories. Their improvement mani-
fested itself toward the last of the
season when S. M. U. and T. C. U.
went down in defeat before a team
which was composed of men who
had never played together but who
were coached by Lionel Moise.
There were four letter men in
baseball who returned. With these
four men Mr. Moise began work
on a baseball team. The result was
the putting out of a team of which
Southwestern is proud. The sea-
son which has just closed has been
a suwesp due largely to his efforts.
Mr. Moise has earned the confi-
dence and respect of the boys who
have worked under him and of the
entire student body afld faculty.
He is a genius when it comes to
building athletic teams from raw

The Eght Week Club training
class met Friday afternoon at 5
o'-clock in the Y. W. C. A. reading
room. The main question discuss-
ed was "How shall I organize my
club!" Mrs. Barton, as leader,
very successfully helped the girls
answer this question. The girls
who are taking this training are
very much interested in it and feel
that they could not afford to miss
the class.
