JOINT RESOLUTION,
Requiring the Chief Justices of the County Courts to give Infor-
tnalion to the Secretary of State concerning the boundaries of
their respective Lounties.
Resolved by- the senate and house of representatives of the re
public of Texas, in congress assembled, That the chief justices of
the several county courts ol this republic be, and they are here
by required to furnish thesecretary of state with a description of
their county boundaries, and such other information and obser
vations relative to the same, as they may conceive conducive to
ted to Samuel M. Williams, by the legislature of the state ofl
Loahuila and J exas, in Apnl, io6o, m order that the parties may
exercise and enjoy their privileges under said act.
6EC. 2. Be it further resolved, That the secretary of the
treasury be, and he is hereby authorised and empowered to ne-
gotiate a loaa from any bank or banks thaf mar be established
in this republic, of sufficient amount for the)payment of all justi
claims held by Messrs. McKinney and Williams against this gov
ernment, and that should the secretary succeed in negotiating
said loan, then he shall give notice to Messrs. McKinney and
Williams, to produce their accounts properly authenticated fori
settlement, andfeif on inspection said accounts be properly au-
thenticatedvthen the secretary ol the treasury shall forthwith
proceed to discharge said account, provided, that if the secreta
ry of the treasury should effect such loan, that he stipulate in
the face of the bond or bonds which he may execute to said bank
on this government, that the notes of said bank shall be recover-!
able m discharge of said bond or bonds.

Authorising the President to issue Scrip to the amount of five hun
dred thousand Acres of Land.
Resolved by the senate and house of representatives of the
Keoubltc of lexas in congress assembled lhat the nresidentbe.
and he is hereby authorised and required to sign land scrip to'
the amount of five hundred thousand acres, and transmit the
same to Thomas Toby of New Orleans, for the purpose of being
sold; provided, that said scrip shall not be sold for a less sum
than fifty cents an acre; and further provided, that should the
bonds of this government, to the amount of five hundred thou
sand dollars, be previously sold, then, and in that case it shall
be the duty of the president to recall said scrip and' forbid the
further selling of the same.
Sec. 2. Resolved farther lhat the said Toby, with the
proceeds arising from the sale of said scrip be, and is hereby au
thorised and required, to fulfil all legal obligations into which he
may have entered as agent of this government, on the faith of
the authority given him by the president "ad interim, for the
selling of land scrip, and that he be authorised and required to
pay all legal debts contracted on the faith of the same.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the senate and house of represen
tatives of the Republic of Texas, in congress assembled, That from

tion of this republic be, and is hereby declared to extend to the
following boundanes, to wtt: beginning at the mouth of the Sa
bine river, and running west along the Gulf of Mexico three
leagues from land, to the mouth of the Rio Grande, thence up
the pnncipal stream ol said nver to its; source, thence due north
to the forty second degree of north latitude, thence along thej
boundary line, as denned in thev$reaty between the united
States and Spain to the beginning, And that the president be
and is hereby authorised and required to open a negotiation with
the government ol the United States of America, so soon as in
his opinion the public interest requires it, to ascertain and define
the boundary line as agreed upon in said treaty.
