They elected as their president, Virgil Bryant. Now this Bryant is cute.
He is a genuine type of the cute boy. His eyes are brown-and his hair
too, where it is long. He is a long distance runner of Abilene reputation.
There is Robinson, the ladies' man. He is dignified and was never known
to laugh. Really he has a pedagogical appearance. He is the great com-
moner and no one understands as well as he the needs of the Prep depart-
ment. He is general secretary of the Preparatory Matrimonial Bureau-
headquarters in his pocket.
Preps are great orators and debaters. Quattlebaum, who can be distin-
guished from all others by a slight moustache, is a great Junior Demonthe-
nes. Harold Walker is a prodigy. Really he is an orator. He speaks with
"vigoriety and ---'---.7 W'e predict for him a brilliant future be-
fore.him-if it is not behind him. It's situation maybe determined by his
hair.
There is no doubt that the Preps have an excellent department and the
prospects for the future are inviting. Our ladies are the fairest and have
distinguished themselves everywhere for a peculiar refinement. Our men
are the bravest, being known for their valor and strength on the gridiron,
the diamond, in their handling of the leathern sphere-and spooning. Some
of the most brilliant mirds in the college are there found. As an instance
of this we point to Wankan, Williams (?), Mason, Shirley, Little, Pope,
Gates. Puckett, etc. Our future history will be the history of the Greater
Polytechnic.
"Silently, one by one, in the infinite notebooks of the teachers, blos-
somed the little zeroes, the for-get-me-nots of the Preps."
Mr. Buttrill's eyes that are so blue
And look at you so sweet;
Seem to say, "Ive got my eyes on you,"
When they're on your feet.96
