Information provided by
Don Ferree, who was the
score keeper and an-
nouncer for the organiza-
tion in 1962.
The Crosbyton Little
League began in the Summer
of 1962 at what was formerly
the WT Gin Yard. They had a
contest on naming the ballpark
and Mickey Givins won a
check for $15.00 and the ball
park was named Big C Park.
Later it was named after the
Bill Wheeler family, W.H.
Wheeler Park.
J.D. Sheer laid out the
W.H. Wheeler Park with the
help of a 100 ft. tape some
wooden pegs and stakes and
of course friends. The foul
lines were 165 ft. and 180 ft
The McAdoo Volunteer
Fire Department will host their
annual Hamburger Supper and
Fireworks Display on
Wednesday, July 4.
Hamburgers will be served

first ball at the park. She re-
ceived one dozen roses and a
baseball.
The Little League also
had a pledge:

to win
But win or lose I will al-
ways do my best.
The first Little League All-
Stars Tournament was held in
Slaton, Texas in 1962. The
Crosbyton All-Stars played
such teams as O’Donnell,
Lamesa, Post, Tahoka and
Slaton.

members were: Eugene Fira,
Lance Morris, Randy Holman,
Ronnie Fowler, Eddie Caskey,
Joe Freeman, Bob Cooper,
Gary Cash, T. Fullingim,
Wendall Neff, Bryon Webster,
Tim Baize, Eddie Jordan and
Bill Tidwell. Coach was Dale
Neff and mgr. was Charles
Freeman.
McAdoo Indians also had
a little league team. Team
members were: Lance Mor-
ris, Bill Tidwell, Brian Webster,
Wendall Neff, Jerry French,
Mike Fox, Philip Morris,
Dwight Hickman, Neely Pow-
ers, Terry French, Bobby
Tidwell, and Dwight Harris.
Coach was Joe McGlaun and
manager was Dale Neff.
Braves Little League
Team members were: John
Castillo, Edward Caskey,
Ronald Brixey, Pat Guzman,
Roy Pinnick, Tracy Jordon,
Gary Cash, Jerry Robinson,
Kitz Parker, Jimmy Smith,
Dewayne Moore, donald
Hines, Pete Flores, Eddie
Weaver, Jim Garcia, Ken
Brashear and Reggie Wheeler.
Coach was Jack Barshear and
manager was Bob Bulter.
Cardinal Little League
team members were: T.
Fillingim, Bobby Cooper, John
Rodriguez, Tim Baize, Miquel
Casanova, Byron Kendricks,
Danny Samples, Jimmy Dunn,
Randy Watson, Jimmy Winn,
Marc Lowrie, Gary Dunlap,
Micky Witt, Grant Simmons,
John Ellison, Alfred Rodriguez

The Crosbyton CISD
Board of Trustees met on June
21, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the
Administration Building.

Convention, Crosbyton CISD
Local Board Policy review,
construction and maintenance
update.

The Lorenzo Chamber of
Commerce is once again
sponsoring the annual July 4th
parade down Main Street.
This year’s celebration will
begin at 10:30 a.m. on
Wednesday, July 4th. There
will be a first place winner for
each category in the parade.
Trophies, made and furnished
by Lorenzo Manufacturing,
will be awarded to first place
winners. It promises to be a
lot of fun again this year, and
don’t forget to hang around
for the “T-Shirt launch” at the
end of the parade. The pa-
rade shirts are sponsored by
Vista Bank.
The Chamber will also be
having its annual Cook-off this
year. T-Shirts for the Cook-
off are sponsored by Peoples
Bank. The tickets are $6.00
and will buy you the opportu-
nity to taste the offerings of
all barbeque entrants and an
opportunity to vote for your
favorite. The Lorenzo Cham-
ber of Commerce will furnish
beans, potato salad and fried
pies to complete your meal.
Children with paid adults will
receive free hotdogs fur-
nished by Xcel Energy. After
everyone has eaten and voted
for their favorites, votes will
be tallied and winners an-
nounced. Cook-off winners
will receive specially designed
belt buckles for their efforts.
There will also be a horse-
shoe pitching contest that will
begin a 1:00. It will be located
behind and to the west of
Allsups. For more information
