Jove Roberts of Alba has agreed
to be our featured cook again this
week She is such a good cook and
has so mam recipes to share that we
asked her to be our guest again
Jove loves to cook and always
contributes to all the fundraising
events in the community
After talking to a friend we
learned that Jove is a very generous
person and enjoys doing things for
other people
She and her husband John live in
a weekend home on Lake Fork
while they are building their new
home on the same property They
have a collection of antiques wait-
ing to be put in the new home when
it is completed It is^now in the final
stages
Joye managed a doctor's office
and assisted in surgery for twenty-
three years She retired when the
Roberts family moved to Alba John
has been with Arco Pipeline as a
mechanical specialist for several
years. He does a lot of traveling in
his work
Both Joye and John love to cook,
and friends tell me that John is also
a very good cook. Joye now owns
the Back Door Deli located in
Antiques on the Square in Alba
where she cooks, and when John is
home he is a big help
Joye is a member of the Alba
Ladies Club and is in charge of the
Kountry Kitchen Dinner (making

den and canning and preserving
vegetables and fruit. They always

Door Deli. They are delicious, have

Hominy Casserole
2 cans white hominy
2 4-oz. css green chilies
1/2 c butter
1 c sour cream
1/2 c heavy cream
1 c shredded cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Drain and rinse hominy In a greased
baking dish, layer hominy and chilies. Dot
with sour cream and butter Repeat and
pour cream over all Sprinkle with cheese
Bake for 4? minutes at $50*
Mama’s Sugar Cookies
1 c margarine
1 coil
2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp salt
5 c flour
1 tsp vanilla
Combine ingredients and roll into balls
and flatten with glass dipped in sugar Bake
at 350* for 8 to 10 minutes

1/3 c butter or margarine, softened
2/3 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c mashed ripe bananas (2-3 medium)
1/4 c buttermilk
1-1/4 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c oats
3/4 c chopped dried apneots
1/2 c chopped walnuts
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and
mix well Combine bananas and witter
milk. Combine flour, baking powder and
sail Add to creamed mixture alternately
with banana mixture. Stir in remaining
ingredients Bake at 350* for 5560 min-
utes. viekL 1 loaf.
Apricot Nectar Cake
1 yellow cake mix
3/4 c oil
3/4 c apneot oeaar
4 eggs
butter flavoring
Combine ingredients and bake in a
bundt pan for 45 minutes at 350V
Icing:
1 box confectioners sugar
3/4 c apneot nectar
butter flavoring
Combine ingredients and drizzk* over cake

Sept. 14th, 1998, at 5:30 p.m. We
said our TOPS pledge and sang or
fellowship song Sarah Carter
called the meeting to order Jean
Bums called the roll with ten mem-
bers present Our club had a loss of
2-1/2 pounds.
TOPS loser of the week was
Marie Purcell with a one-pound
loss, and she received a gift.
This was dues and charm night
Our new contest “The Devil
Made Me Do It" started
Sarah spoke on “Famous Last
Words.”
Our meetings are Monday nights
from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m at the Lone
Oak Methodist Church annex.

There was a discussion of the
possibility of Rains Garden Club
hosting a summer workshop in
1999
Plans were made for the handi
craft and bake sale to be held at our
Thanksgiving dinner in November
Our next meeting will be on
October 12. Those interested in gar-
dening are invited to join us.

A belated birthday tea party was
held for Carly Campbell and four-
teen of her friends Saturday at
Generations in Greenville.
Wherv the girls first arrived, they
had their choice of long dresses,
hats, slippers, and jewelry to dress
up for the tea party.
There was a lot of giggling
among the girls as they were dress-
ing- They were so excited.
-' A gift bag was given to each
guest. Inside was make-up. rings,
necklaces, and individual mirrors
for the girls to use as they put on
their make-up
Lemonade tea was poured in their
cups. Candy and cake were make to
look like a tea pitcher.
Afterward, the girls changed
back into their clothes before going
home.

Brandy Burleson of East Tawakoni and Jonathan Wacaster of Emory were
united in marriage at 6 30 p m on September 13th at the Tyler Hose Garden
in a double-ring ceremony officiated by Rob Wacaster The bride is the
daughter ot Steve and Debbie Stigall of East Tawakoni, and the groom is
the son of Rob and Elsa Wacaster of Emory The Maid ot Honor was Cam
Greer ot Garland. The bridesmaids were Stacy Lowers of Emory and Ashley
Hukill of Lindale The Best Man was Dan Townsend of Greenville and the
groomsmen were Jeremy Smith of Emory and Chris Webb of Sunnyvale
The flowergirl was Tone Talkington of Emory and the ring bearer was Calvin
Lee of Midlothian. Ushers were Jeramy Burleson, Stevie Stigall and Jacob
Stigall Presiding at the bride s registry was Katie Johnson The couple took
a short honeymoon to Lake Palestine The couple then traveled to Camp
Lejeune, North Carolina, where Jonathan is stationed. The couple are both
graduates of Rains High School. The bride graduated from Texas A&M of
Commerce in May of 1998, with a Bachelor's degree in social work. The
