Bell Encouraged By
Lady Cubs’ Performance
CLIFTON - Girls’ Head Basket-
ball Coach Andy Bell is encouraged
about the lady Cubs’ chances for a
third straight playoff appearance
after last Friday’s district-opening
win over Dublin. Clifton downed the
Lady Lions, 29-26.
“I’m not a big prediction person,
but I will say this — on any given
night, anything can happen in this
district. Our girls showed great char-
acter, and their team defense just
continues to get better,” Coach Bell
said following the win. i
On the defensive end, Bell espe-
cially praised the play of Sarah En-
gel and Nicole Meinkowsky.
Offensively, Bell said Angie Evans
and Krista Simmons continue to
stand out for the team.
“We had a great second quar-
ter,” Bell said as the Lady Cubs
took a 21-15 halftime lead. However,
neither team lit up the scoreboard
in the second half, Clifton scoring
just eight points while allowing Dub-
lin 11.
“I think in the second half we
played not to lose rather than play-
ing to win the game,” Coach Bell con-
cluded.
Clifton fell to Comanche at home
Tuesday night, and travels to Breck-
enridge this Friday for a 6:30 p.m.
contest.

ment the whole year,” said the coach.

Amundson added six apiece, Kali

bounds for a loose ball right before
the end of the first quarter as out-
standing plays of the game.

Lady Cub JV 14 6 6 2 -28
“We came out intense and got af-
ter them very well,” said the coach.
“We were much better on the offen-
