Lady Cubs Struggle
CLIFTON - The Lady Cub
freshman dropped a trio of
matches to fall to 1-3 on the sea
son. The skid started with a 12-15,
2-15 loss to Lorens in Clifton Fri-
day, Aug. 23
“We played a good first game
even though we missed eight
serves We got rattled early on in
the second game and couldn't
come back,” explained Coach
Brandi Kinney
A trip to Hewitt Tuesday, Sept
26, resulted in a 9-15, 9-15 loss to
Midway
“We played great defensively
Lindsey Gummelt played great on
the back row Offensive, we are still
too timid at times, but I was very
happy with the way these young
ladies played," Coach Kinney re-
ported.
Back home this past Tuesday,
Robinson downed Clifton in two, 9-
15, 4-15. The Lady Cub’s next
match is this Friday, with a start
time of approximately 6:30 p.m in
the high school gym.
Annual Bow
Bash Slated
Sept. 21-22
CLIFTON — The Bosque
Bowhunters Association will
hold its third annual Bow Bash
Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21-
22. The event will be held at the
association’s shooting range,
located about two miles east of
Clifton on Farm Road 219.
The two-day shoot features a
30-target 3-D course. Door
prizes, hunt giveaways, and
raffles will also be held in con-
nection with the annual event
Cost of the tournament is 515
for all contestants. Plate
lunches will be available Sun-
day.

Next Weekend At Septemberfest
C RAN FILLS GAP - Cranfills
Gap High School will host the 2002
Hoop Challenge, a 3 on-3 basketball
tournament, as part of the Septem
berfest celebration on Saturday,
Sept. 14. The competitions will be-
gin at 1 p.m in the high school gym
Eight divisions of play are
planned, including:
• Girls/Women — Grades 3-5,
grades 6-8, high school, and adult
• Boys/Men — Grades 3-5,
grades 6-8, high school, and adult.
Entry fee is set at 212 per

To Host Golf Tournament
VALLEY MILLS - The Valley
Mills Lions Club will host a ben
efit golf tournament Saturday,
Sept 21, at Glenbriar Golf Club. Itee
time is 8 am. and proceeds ben-
efit the club’s scholarship fund.
Entry fee is 545 per person or
5150 per team. The tourney is a
blind draw shotgun start with an
18-hole course. Prizes will be
awarded to the teams finishing in
the first three places, as well as a
one-hole best drive and one-hole
closest-to-the-pin competitions.

provided as part of the entry fee.
