Cooper Review - Page 3
Klondike News
By John & Elizabeth Hopkins
It has been beautiful
weather the past two days,
but many people in Klondike
have not enjoyed. They
are fighting the virus going
around. We wish them a
speedy recovery and no
lasting side effects. And if
you haven’t had it, we hope
you don’t get it so you can
continue to enjoy the weather.
Phillip and Allie Stone’s
visitors this week were Glen
and Louise Stone and Louise’s
mom Bonnie who was
visiting her daughter. Also
visiting was Sharon Jordan.
Jimmy Blundell’s sister
Helen Ballard visited with
Jimmy and Patricia on
Friday. She brought a pear
tree and an apple tree to
plant on the Blundell place.
On Saturday the Blundell’s
visitors were Rhonda and
Mark Figura. They wanted to
visit cemeteries where family
members were buried and then
treated Jimmy and Patricia to
lunch before returning home
to Garland. Also on Saturday,
Tina and Bimbo Love came
with a friend to help cut
some trees for Patricia. Tina
also returned on Sunday
morning for another visit.
The Blundells then went
to Cooper to Joyce Toles
home and raked up pecan
leaves to put on the garden.
Mable Wheat has the
cast off her arm!! She says
she can sleep better now
and is enjoying full use of
her arm and hand again.
We are happy for her, too.
Stella Martin’s niece
from Scroggins visited
on Saturday. Darlene and
Tommy Moore and their two
grandchildren Colton and
Cory drove in to spend several
hours with Stella. Stella’s
other visitors this week were
Loreen Martin and Betty,
Tanner, and Bayleigh George.
Stella visited with Bertha
Jones of Cooper for a few
hours on Tuesday afternoon.
Janet and Jerry Currin
had grandson Jordan visit on
Sunday. Jordan also brought
his parents Rodney and
Heather Currin. Jerry cooked
his famous stew and made
cornbread and later, Jordan
went to “Papaw’s” shop for
a haircut. He wasn’t thrilled
but he now looks like the
little boy he is! Jerry also
visited with his mom Edith
via phone this weekend.
Edith is still doing well.
Don’t forget — next
Thursday the Republican
Men’s group will host a
meet-the-candidates forum
to be held at the Church at
Klondike. If you are still
undecided, please come to
the Church and hear the
candidates present their views.
Again, that is Thursday
Feb. 21, 2008 at 7:00pm
with light refreshments
beginning at 6:00pm.
RE-ELECT WAYNE POOLE FOR
COMMISSIONER, PRECINCT 3 DELTA COUNTY
We, the employees, believe
while continuing to address the
problems of roads in Precinct 3,
that Wayne Poole makes effective
decisions in the best interest of
YOU, the voters of Pet. 3. Along
with keeping current on all
business in the county, Wayne
gives the voters the opportunity
to provide comments to any
project. He is a good, involved
citizen and to our knowledge
as employees, no promises
have been broken during this
past term and will continue to
remain unbroken. His promises
are promises concerning county
roads and business pertaining
to Pet. 3 and not promises to
employees to divide his first
months paycheck with them or
to work only 10 hour days, 4
days a week.
Wayne Poole was born, raised
and attended Cooper High
School. He has a lifetime
knowledge of this area, and
knowledge of Precinct 3 from
the previous term which he
served. In the best interest
of Delta County Pet. 3 -VOTE
WAYNE POOLE FOR PRECINCT 3
COMMISSIONER.
Again, thank you for allowing
him this place of service and
we KNOW he continues to look
forward to meeting and greeting
you—as together we work
to keep the precinct A TEXAS

To the Voters of Delta County:
When I was appointed to the Position of Sheriff
of Delta County I had to rebuild the Sheriff’s
Department, there were many things wrong. I had
to hire many new
Deputies, and some
new Dispatchers,
there were cases
that were not filed,
and we had to take
those and get them
in the system. Since
that time we have
excellent CID people
that know their
jobs, they have put
in countless hours
of doing what had
to be done and some of those hours they did not
get paid for it, they are dedicated to their work, the
Department Deputies some times stay over to cover
what they do not have time to do during regular
hours, they do not hesitate to do so, in the last year
we have made cleared 90% of our cases, either
sending them to the State Pen, State Jail, or have
them waiting to go to trial.
Our office is always open to anyone that needs help,
we are here to protect the citizens and property of
Delta County. There are those that say we do not
do anything, well you do not know what goes on at
the Sheriff’s Department, all most get is hearsay,
or what someone gets out and lies about. All I ask is
if someone tells you something about me, ask them
are you willing to go before the Sheriff and tell the
same thing to his face. I will not lie to the people of
Delta County about anyone to win the election, if I
have something to say I will have proof of what I am
saying, not just some tale. My door is open to any
and all, you can call me any time and I will get back
to you as soon as I can if I am not in my office. I have
nothing to hide, the lies that there is kickback in the
Department are false, I publicly state that I would
welcome any agency to investigate the Sheriff’s
Department in any way, and I will not put up with
anyone doing anything wrong in the Department. I
do not say myself, or the ones that work for me, do
not make mistakes, we are human just like anyone
else.
Being Sheriff of Delta County does not make you
someone special, does not give you prestige, and does
not make you an important person, you are just
like any other citizen. You are just the head of an
important job of Protecting the People and Property
of Delta County and I will do that job as long as my
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gives me the health,
strength, wisdom to do so.
I ask you to elect me to stay your Sheriff so I can
continue to do the job I am now doing.
I thank you.
