The Methodist churches of the
South Central jurisdiction will be
participating in an attendance crusade
January through Raster in an effort
to increase church interest and at-
tendance.
The Lutle Watkins Memorial Meth-
odic church here will count the at-
tendance of both morning and eve-
ning Sunday services. They hope to
, have every church member attend-
ing church every Sunday; every
j church school member in i-lasft every
j Sunday; and every youth attending
I every MYF meeting every Sunday.
In this connection, an idea to fur-
, liter interest in the crusade has been
! announced by J. M. Hardison. Sun-
day school superintendent. The Lla-
j no Methodist Sunday school will
; sponsor a series of covered dish sup-
: pers to promote fellowship in the
church. ^ ’
The first supper will be held to-
right (Thursday) at 6:30 in the church
recreation rooms. The junior depart-
ment, under the direction of Mrs. Bill
Watkins, will be in charge of the
arrangements for the supper. Other
departments will serve as host com-
mittees at the following suppers.
Dr. L. U. Spellman, district super-
intendent, who lives in KerrvlUe,
will be on the program, as will Rev.
Eugene Harris, minister of the First
Methodist church in Kerrville. They
will he introduced by Rev. Bruce Cox.
All church members and their
friends are invited to be present.

Llano's last official holidays were j
noted this week and proclaimed by
tiie Chamber of Commerce.
Of course, Robert Kassell pointed j
out, one January 1st—is already wa-
ter under the bridge. Independence j
Day oti July f falls on Sunday and !
will be officially observed July 5.
Labor Day will be a holiday—and j
of course is the first Monday in j
September.
Thanksgiving is the last Thursday I
in November, and hi 1954 Christmas
falls on Saturday.
Poll Tax Payments

Approximately 70C poll tax re-
ceipts have been registered in Llano
since Jan. 1, according to Travis
Bawcom. sheriff and tax collector.
Bawcont reported that “.payments
have been fairly good so far”. With
a possible voting strength of about
1,900, poll tax payments -need to be
made now in order to participate in
city, county and state races coming
up this year.
