Want to pick up soma extra
money to pay your taxes? Simply
plant a raw paean trees. When
the first crop appears, just pick
up the profits. There la always
a ready market for pecan nuts.
Excellent for street and yard
planting in thia area, full grown
paean trees yield wonderfully
cool shad* as wall as extra in-
come. The treee often live to be
100 year* old .or more.
You can start your backyard
“grove" by planting the nut it-
self, or buying a young tree from
a nursery or shelling plant in
vour area. Tha latter offers a
handy market for your crop.
Ask your nurseryman for the
names of varieties that do well
in this elimate and soil. Ask him
also for full instructions in
planting and care. You will find
that these trees require little
attention, but pay big dividends.
Plantings may be made at any
time from fall through April.
Late winter or early spring is
ideal planting time since the
young seedling will receive auto-
matically the watering it needs.
During the tree’s first few
years, there will be little evidence
of growth. This is because a long
tap root grows downward several
feet before the tree grows up.
Pecan trees reach a very large
size, so they need good, sturdy
underpinnings.
From tha time you harvest tha
first erop, you can look to your
money tree to help pay your
taxes I
