FFA T© Present
P-TA Program
Howe Parent Teacher Associ-
ation will meet at 7:30 Thurs-
day night at the elementary
gym. Future Farmers of Amer-
ica and Advisor Jim Rogers
will be in charge of the pro-
i gram.
A social hour will follow the
program, with second, third and
12th grade room mothers as
hostesses.
The new plans were submitt-
ed by G. M. Geer, McKinney
engineer, on behalf of Howe
Mobile Homes Inc. Original pro-
posals called for pre-fabricated-
type construction on permanent
locations, in addition to mobile
homes, with lots to be sold or
leased. Under the new proposal,
the company would only r-eht or
lease the lots, with" tRe~addi-
tion a mobile home park. The
company, under the new plan,
would develop the area and re-
tain possession^ of all utilities
and streets, which also differ
ed from the original plans sub-
mitted at an earlier meeting.
Also present was a delegation
representing homes surrounding
the proposed park, with a peti-
tion opposing acceptance of the
development by council."
Spokesmen for the group said
the development “would lower
property values in the area, int
addition to being an eyesore to
the community.”
E. H. Green, Attorney for the
city, told the assembly that in-
sofar as city council is concern-
ed, “They cannot approve or
disapprove the plan as submitt-
ed here.” The attorney explain-
ed that, due to lack of zoning
ordinances, a property owner
can do whatever he wishes with
his property, so long as it is
a private development and not
a subdivision.
Zoning for the city is present-
ly in the initial stages of the
Comprehensive Plan for Howe,
but as yet, no such ordinances
have been found.
As originally presented, streets
and utilities would have been
dedicated to the city, if accep-
able to the city. However, un-
der the plan submitted Thurs-
day, all phases of the develop-
ment would remain the proper-
ty of the developers.
In other business, Mayor Dug
Wortham appointed Cleon Ham-
ilton, E. F. Arterberry ana ’Wal-
ter Neill to the Howe Housing
Authority Board;
Called city election for Tues-
day, April 1;

res of land adjoining property

man Northwest of Howe;
Voted to seek bids on a new
two ton truck for the fire de-
partment, following a request
by Joe King. King told council
the department had some funds
on hand toward the purchase of
a truck, and would try to raise
more. The department" intends
to use the tank and "other e-
quipment off the old Truck to be
