Fourth Grade Attends Ag Day I Harper Band Wins Sweepstakes Award
Below are student
descriptions of the field
trip to Ag Day in mid-April
sponsored by the Farm
Bureau.
Field Trio onAg Day
Our field trip was
fantastic, terrific, and awe-
some, not to mention
great! We went to the Ag
Barn because today is Ag
Day.
The station I liked
the most was about cotton.
Most cotton is grown in
West Texas. They also
showed us a machine that
separated the seeds from
the cotton. Did you know
that cotton is in ice cream,
toothpaste, film, dollar
bills, and CL-tips? The lady
at the station said that you
, better not go home and
say that you don twant to
brush your teeth anymore
because toothpaste has
cotton and so does ice
cream. It was fantastic.
My next favorite
station was the machinery
station. There were three
different stations. The
! John Deer Tractor was my
favorite. I didn t know
that tractors had air condi-
tioners and computers.
We got to get in the trac-
' tors two by two and sit in
the driver sseat. That was
very amazing.
The third station I
like was called sheep and
goats. The man named
Billy sheared a sheep.
After he sheared it we
touched it. The wool felt
very oily. They shear
sheep because we don t
wear our jackets all sum-
mer. The wool is like a
jacket so we shear it so
that they don t get hot. It
was terrific.
The Ag Day field
trip to the ag barn was
great! I loved it. I hope we
get to go again in fifth
grade.

Field Trio
My field trip was
total fun. I liked the pet-
ting zoo station. We got to
pet a soft black pony; its
tail was all the way to the
ground. We got to pet a
reddish white bull. He
was a big bull, too.
Then, we went to
the forestry station. The
guy there was telling us
how important trees are to
us. He said that if we did-
n thave trees we wouldn t
have toilet paper.
Next, we went to
the equine station. They
were talking about how
much help horses were.
After the questions were
done with, we got to pet
the three horses. All three
of them were tall. Their
names were Lady,
Sundance, and Quen. They
were really good horses.
My field trip was so

Fourth Grade Field
Trip
The fourth grade
field trip was a blast. We
went to Fredericksburg. It
was Ag Day there. Our
grade went to nine stations
in all. Each of them were
twenty minutes long. I had
three favorite stations.
One of them was
the Dairy Station. There
we learned where heifer
cows lived, what they ate,
and how they produced
milk by hand and machine.
The man at the station
milked a cow named Jessie
by a machine. It was neat.
I also like the sta-
tion where we sheared
sheep. The people there
said to shear the sheep
once a year so it could be
cool during the summer.
The station was the second
favorite I liked.
My third favorite
station was where we
learned what plants were
good and bad. Most of
them were plants deer
sometimes eat. They had
cedar, live oak, algerita,
and other interesting
plants.
Some of the things
there were boring and
some of them were cool.
All the things were pretty
interesting. Ag Day was a
great field trip.

enjoyed 'watching' the
