The talent was the largest silver coin used among the Greeks, and
would be worth about $10,000.00 today. When the master entrusted
5 thousand talents to the first servant, it was a fantastic amount, and
likewise the 2,000 talents he entrusted to the second servant. Both
of these made good use of what had been given to them and
doubled their investment. This makes the third servant seem even
more pathetic because he refused to make use of the talent he had
been given.
Jesus is teaching us throug this parable (Matt. 25:14-30) that God
has blessed each of us with abilities and talents for the good of the
Church. Not all the people receive the same talents, nor are they
given for our benefit, but for the good of the community. Thus some
people are given greater gifts that others and these are to be used
for the benefit of all, especially in the case of leaders in the Church.
In the parable the one who received the 5,000 talents and the one
who received the 2,000 talents worked hard and doubled their
investment. In contrast, the action of the third servant is sad, for he
failed to use the master's gift. It is this servant who had the
problem. He was afraid of his master and did not trust his own
ability. God does not want us to be afraid of Him, but to keep trying,
Our spiritual gifts, when used, grow more strong and fruitful. If left
unused they rot away. When God gives us gifts, He intends for us
to use them. It really doesn't matter if these gifts are great or small
what matters is what use we make of them.

The 3RD. Day, Will It Begin
At The Dawn Of The New Millenium?
by Rev. Carlos Parker
In Genesis 1:13 the seed comes to life and breaks forth from the
ground on the third day.
In Genesis 22:4 it is the third day that Abraham lifts up his eyes
and sees Mount Zion.
In Exodus 19:16 is it the third day that the people come out of their
camp to meet Almighty God coming down on Mount Sinai.
In Esther 5:1 Esther comes before her king after months of
preparation of the third day. The king will judge her appearance,
deciding if she will become his queen.
Hosea 6:2 tells that after two days He will revive us and on the
third day He, the Lord God will raise us up. We know that a day
with the Lord is like a 1,000 years. It's been two days since Jesus.
At the close of the second day, He has given us 100 years of Holy
Ghost revival. It began in 1900 and is still going right up to the
beginning of the third day. Will He now raise us up in a glorius
rapture?
In John 2:1 the marriage Jesus attended was held on the third day.
It was 4bejday.. water ..was changed to wine. Will we be changed from
mortality to immortality?
In Luke 10:30, the Good Samaritan tells the innkeeper to spend
whatever he has to take care of the fallen man and he will return on
the third and repay him. What have you spend on the
downtrodden? Will the Lord have to repay you anything?
Finally, we all know what day Jesus rose from the dead, don't we?
That's right, the third day. It would behove us all to take inventory of
our lives and make sure we know what day it is. Remember, the
night is far spent and the day is at hand. Knowing all these things,
what manner of Christians ought we to be? Neglect not the
assembling of yourselves as the manner of some is but even the
more as you see that day approaching. How is your spiritual
eyesight? Is it 20/20? I sure hope so! Maybe we should ask Jesus
to give us a spiritual eye-exam. We may need glasses.

Jh Zhe Morning
by Kalph Cushman
I met God in the morning,
When my day was at its best
And His presence came like sunrise
Like a glory in my breast.
All day long the Presence lingered.
All day long He stayed with me.
And we sailed with perfect calmness
O'er a very troubled sea.
Other ships were blown and battered
Other ships were sore distressed.
But the winds that seemed to drive them
Brought to us a peace and rest.
Then I thought of ottier mornings
With a keen remorse' of mind,
When I, too, had loosed the moorings
With the Presence left behind.
,A j •
So I think I know the secret
Learned from many a troubled way.
You must seek Gbd jn the moring
If you want Him through the day.
