An EEA home is a Good Sense
way to fight rising energy costs
At Central Power and Light
Company, we're doing everything
we can to keep your electricity
costs as low as possible. Continu-
ing increases in the price of
natural gas, however, mean
higher fuel charges, which are
included in your electric bill -
and you're probably doing some
pretty hard thinking now about
ways to keep utility costs in line.
If you're in the market for a
new home or a remodeling job,
you'll want to consider the
Energy Efficiency Award (EEA)
program developed by CPL. The
energy-saving measures incor-
porated in an all-electric EEA
house will enable you to make
substantial cuts in power
consumption.
To qualify for the award, a
home must be well insulated,
protected against air leaks and
equipped with highly efficient
heating and air conditioning
systems. These and numerous

other features that boost the
home's energy efficiency are
checked and certified by a
qualified technician from CPL.
Houses built to EEA standards
yield other benefits in addition to
economy of operation. South
Texans who live in them report
that they are easier to maintain,
more comfortable, and generally
have a higher resale value.
The EEA plan can be a big
help to those already planning to
buy or build a new house or
modify a current residence. For
more information, inquire at your
CPL office.
