announce'the engagement and ap-
proaching marriage of their,
daughter, Bettie, to Leroy Light-
foot, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A.
Lightfoot of Corpus Christi.
The wedding will take place at
the Episcopal Church of Our Sa-
viour, on Sunday, July 4, at four
o’clock.
Mrs. Fender Speaks
To Episcopal Ladies
Mra. Boyd Fender presented the
program to the Women’s Auxiliary
of the Episcopal Church Monday
afternoon. The meeting was held
at the home of Mrs. Marvin John-
son. Mrs. Fender gave a historical
background on the life of Paul,
prefacing her review of the third
chapter of the “Climbers of the
Steep Ascent.”
During the business session the
group voted to send a package
of birthday gifts to Carlos Frank,
the ten year old boy at the Epis-
copal Mission in Nanana, Alaska,
that the local organization helps
to sponsor.
Mrs. Edward Redmond reported
that plans are completed for the
“Next to New” sale to be Field on
Saturday, July 24. Funds raised
from this project will be used to
help start a parish hall for the
church, the ladies stated.
Mrs. Johnson served cookies
and cold drinks to eleven ladies
attending.
Mrs. Doyle Beagle
Shower Honoree
Mrs. Doyle Beagle, the former
Joan BaMey, was complimented
with a bridal shower Monday
avuingr June 2», by Miaa Martha
Elliott at the home of Dr. and
Mrs. Boyce Elliott.
The honoree was presented with
numerous lovely gifts. /
Pink and white roaes centered

table. The roses were flanked
with pink tapers in silver candle
holders.
Iced cake squares, punch and
mints were served to twenty-five
guests, the honoree, and the hon-
oree’s mother, Mrs. R. B. Bailey.

Louis Icet, Saturday evening at
8 o’clock at the First Baptist
Church here.
Mrs. Daymond Mayhall of Nor-
honor and the bride’s sister, Miss
Jerry Garner, will be the maid of
honor. The bridesmaids will be
Miss Billie Wilson of Gonzales and
Miss Dawn Godfrey of Browns-
ville.
Serving the bridegroom as best
man will be Billy Roy Lancaster
of Lockhart. Groomsmen will be
Bobby Brown of Houston, Bobby
Sample of Genoa and Billy Dumas
of Donna. Glenn Chaney of Texas
City and Aubrey Dean Horner of
Woodsboro will be ushers.
The wedding music will be
played by Mrs. William Evans, Jr.,
and Miss Grace Kuretsch of Mar-
lin will be the soloist.

A rehearsal supper will be given
by Mr. and Mrs. Ross Icet of Gen-
oa Friday evening on the lawn
of the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. J.
Garner. Guests will include all
the wedding party and Mrs. Gar-
ner’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C.
Hicks of Stephenville.
Bride-Elect Honored
The bride-elect and her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Garner and
family, Miss Jerry Garner and
Jimmy Gainer, were honored last
Tuesday evening with a dinner
at the home of Dr. and Mrs. A. M.
Strauss at 309 Williamson drive
in Corpus Christi.

for Fort McClellan, Ala., where he

He was accompanied to Alabama
by Joe Frandolig, who will enter
