Mr, Bdwla Alonso Hall passed
away. — Friday, October 7th, 1931
at his home In Ran Antonio. Mr.
Hull bod been in III health for —me
time, being confined to bis bid for
several months. He was brought
back to Carthage and laid to rest,

Bdwin of Carthage, and Joe of Osoua,
two daughters, Miss Sadie Hull and
Mrs. C, T, Myers of San Antonio;
two sisters, Ml— Minnow Hnll of
Carthage, Mrs. B. A. Baker of Pampe,
and eae brother, Dr. C. F. Hull of
Carthage, besides a number of grand'
children, nieces and nephews and a

The— sermons were highly Inter-
esting and dealt principally with the
question of church attendance In
these times of depra—lon. Rev.
Heeron pointed out the fact that tbo
church was b—n In a trouble—me
time, and had existed ever since that
time, asd further stated that there
was no reason tor looking lightly on
religion In 1093, becau— supreme be-
lief and'faith we— the only ways out
of any situation at any time.

Four miles of pavement have been
completed on the Certbage-Tenaha
highway, commonly called Booth t.
A contract f— the paving of thla
highway was recently let, and when
the work is finished, the pavement
will extend from the city limits of
Canbage to the 8helby county Una.
A crew of more than a hundred men
have been engaged in paving thla
road for th* past faw weeba. They
were formerly located at Tenaha, and
tha job was started out of that city,
but after paving four miles, the c—w
moved Into Carthage and will bs
located hare until the road la finish-
ed.

Fire swept the little town of Mt.
Enterprise located Routh of Hender-
son, In Rusk county, on October 10.
Raven buildings we— completely
destroyed, causing damage eetlmeted
at 910,000. Fire departments from
Henderson and Nacogdoches answer-
ed the alarm.
The seven buildings destroyed were
frame constructed and Included «
garage, grist mill, cafe, barber shop,
filling station and a warehouse.
The fi— was discovered In a ma-
chine shop owned by Frank Kvane.
It spread to his feed store destroying
both with an estimated damage of
92,600. The loss was not covered by
Insurance, f.re department officials
announced. Three buildings were
saved.
