% celebrate 50th wedding anniversarg
On Friday, January 20,1950 in the
small town of DeQueen, Arkansas
George Robert Smith and Wilma Jean
Cleaver were united in marriage. On
Thursday, January 20, 2000 they
celebrated their 50th wedding anni-
versary.
The couple have lived in Bogata
since George retired from the Air
Force in 1970, where they operated
the hardware store for many years.
Fund established in the
name of Paul Marr
A fund has been established in the
name of Paul Marr, longtime mail
carrier in Bogata, at Guaranty Bank
Bogata.
The fund is to help defray housing
costs while Paul is undergoing treat-
ment at M.D. Anderson Hospital in
Houston. Donations may be made at
the bank or at the Bogata Post Office.
All contributions are appreciated by
Paul and his family.
They have been involved in the com-
munity with George as a member of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the
Lions Club, and Jean a member of the
VFW Women's Auxiliary.
The couple have two children, Dr.
George (Bobby) Smith and wife, Lisa
of Mt. Pleasant and Barbara Kelley
and husband, Keith of Johntown and
three grandchildren, Chris, Alex and
Ashley Smith of Mt. Pleasant.

Johnnie Loyce (Bivins) Jones invite

The couple were wed on January
21, 1950. The occasion will be cel-
ebrated on Friday, January 21, 2000
at the Bogata Missionary Baptist
Church located on Hwy 271 N in
Bogata.

celebrates 90th birthday
Methodist Women meet January 12

The Bogata Methodist Women met
Wednesday, Jan. 12 in the fellow-
ship hall for their regularly sched-
uled meeting. Betty Puckett led the
opening prayer.
Francis Rozell, Vice President,
presided in the absence of the presi-
dent, at the business session. Corre-
spondence was read from; Tommie
Norton, winner of the bazaar quilt,
Ann Cody for the Christmas gift, and
Sandra Mauldin, Red River
Healthcare, for our participation in
their Christmas celebration.
Betty Puckett served as program
leader, reading the "Legend of the
Candy Cane" and a story about three
trees. Betty and Mary Kathryn Cotten
presented "A Conversation with God
during the Lord's Prayer", which made
everyone present more aware of what
we pray for.
The meeting closed with dismissal
.prayer. Attending were; Eleanor
McClure, Pat Spencer, Betty Puckett,
Francis Rozell, Anna Belle Patton,
Anita Stubblefield, Edith Swaim,
Gertie Choate, Mary Kathryn Cotten,
Bess Ruthardt and Dorothy Gill.
Lettie Gorman Fielden celebrated
her 90th birthday in Odessa, Texas
on December 11, 1999 at a party
hosted by Darlene Stewart and other
friends.
LeRTe was bom December 16,1909
in Bogata and has lived in Odessa
since 1937. She was married to her
late husband, Almon Fielden ,for 51
years. The couple had one son, Glen
Fielden who is also deceased.
Lettie is an aunt to Bogata resi-
dent, Coy Coker. She would like all
her friends and relatives to know she
can still walk, drive her car, cook and
bake for herself and others and she
feels very rich in friends and family.
