Oops!! Didn't tell you it was still
winter, we still have February to go,
but with the lovely January weather,
many of us thought of no winter at ail.
We received lots of rain last week,
snd definite cooling of (he

that in our area, however they did
have it in Paris Saturday evening as
far south as Pattonville.
* Our Johntown Missionary Baptist
was saddened this week in the loss of
Bro. A.I. Bond. He is a former pastor
of the church on two different occa-
sions. His wisdom and influence will
be greatly missed. We extend our
sympathy to the Bond family.
Eugene Cox and daughters Angela
and Lori of Bogata and Angela’s
friend Todd Bannister of Mt. Vernon
visited Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lee Cox
Saturday.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Johntown Missionary Baptist Church
hiet all day last Tuesday for quilting
and Bible study. The lesson was
brought by Mry Lou Daniels. We had
one visitor, Mrs. Ora Pirtle and eight
members present. We extend an in-
vittion for you to join us at 1:30 each
Tuesday at the church for Bible study.

Mrs. Travis Watts. Nelson Watts re1
mained and spent Friday night with
Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Allums.
Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert
Horn on Sunday were their daughter,
Mrs. Darlene Hutchenson and her son
Clay of Paris also their son and fami-
ly, David and Mary Lynn Horn and
daughter Megan of Bogata.

Melinda visited Ed and Lucille
Childers on Friday and brought Ed a
birthday cake.
Visiting with Mrs. Arietta Hervey
on the weekend was her grandson,
Larry Hervey of Garland and his
friend, Cindy Stevens of Ft Worth.

Mrs. Toni Combest of Pittsburg, Mrs.
Jan McCuller and great-
granddaughter, Erin McCuller of Mt
Pleasant. They came with presents to
wish Ed a happy birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Tim Daniels of
Longview visited his parents, Rev.
and Mrs. Billy Daniels and other
relatives over the weekend.
Mrs. Lee Hood was in Paris Thurs-
day to do Auxiliary Volunteer duty at
McCuistion Hospital, also to check on
her granddaughter, Mrs. Diana Hood,
who was a patient at McCuistion with
a virus infection. Diana is better and
able to be back at home in Paris.
Mrs. Dixie Stringfeliow and Mrs.
Edna Earle Dodd of Bogata visited
their sister, Mrs. Lucille Childers and
Ed on Sunday afternoon. Lucille
hasn’t been feeling too well.
As of mid-afternoon on Monday, it
is snowing in Johntown.
There is a lot of illness in our com-
munity and most everyone is staying
in fairly close.
These former pastors of the
Johntown Missionary Baptist Church
were here Wednesday for the funeral
of Bro A I Bond; Bro Marvin Gard-
ner, Bro. Calvin Perminter, Bro. J C.
Hancock. Also attending were several
pastors from the district, among them
were Bro. Charles Johnson fo Friend-
ship Missionary Baptist Church in
Clarksville, Bro. Kevin Plsterof New
Haven Missionary Baptsit Church;
Br. A.B. Kellam of Hopewell Mis-
sionary Baptist Church; Bro. James.

The members of the First United
Methodist Church of Bogata would
like to extend a personal invitation to
each of you to attend the spring
revival. The three day series of ser
vices will begin on Sunday evening,
February 16 at 7 p.m. and will con-
tinue through Tuesday at 7 p.m. each
evening.
The preacher for the series is the
Rev. Dr. Don Renshaw of Paris. Dr.
Renshaw is the current District
Superintendent of the Paris-Sulphur
Springs District of the North Texas
Conference of the United Methodist
Church. Dr. Renshaw and his wife,
Barbara, are the parents of three
married sons and four grandchildren
He attended Texas Wesleyan
University and earned his Bachelor ot
Science and Master of Education
degrees. He attended seminary at
Southern Methodist University and
received both the Bachelor of Divini-
ty and Doctor of Ministry degrees.
Dr. Renshaw has served this area
since 1982 with previous pastorates at
First United Methodist Church in
Plano, First United Methodist Church
in Sulphur Springs. Ridgewood Park
in Dallas, and other churches in Ft
Worth.
