Theron M. Jones
Dies December 21
Theron M. Jones, 87, former Titus
County School Superintendent, died
Thursday, December 21 in a Grand
Prairie Hospital following a short
illness.
A native of Titus County, he was
bom July 6,1902. He had resided in
Grand Prairie for 35 years. In 1967 he
retired as a history teacher at GPISD,
having served in the school district
for 12 years. He also taught school at
Deport. He was a former school
superintendent at both Canton and
Deport. He was a graduate of East
Texas State University and George
Teabory College in Nashville, TN.
He was a lifelong member of the
United Methodist Church and was a
member of the First United Method-
ist Church of Grand Prairie.
Survivors include his wife, Mau-
rine Jones; one daughter, Martha
McCracken of Grand Prairie, one
brother, Humphrey Jones of Mt.
Pleasant; and one grandson. He was
preceded in death by a granddaugh-
ter, Amy McCracken.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Fri-
day at First United Methodist Church
in Grand Prairie with the Rev. Robert
Young, Rev. Wayne Odom and Rev.
Art Renfro and Michael Easley offi-
c iating. Leon Grissim of Mt. Pleasant
and Jones' son-in-law made talks.
Burial was in Forest Lawn Ceme-
tery.

Gaylon Eudy #
Dies December 22
Gaylon Eudy, 76, of Johntown,
died Friday, December 22 at McCuis-
tion Medical Center.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sun-
day, December 24 in the Cuthand
Methodist Church with the Rev. A.B.
Kellam and the Rev. Billy Daniels
officiating. Burial was in Cuthand
Cemetery by Bogata Funeral Home.
Mr. Eudy was bom December 17,
1913 in Red River County, a son of
Will and Emma Duffee Eudy. He
married Fannie Mae Lumpkin on
December 9, 1933 in Cuthand. He
was a retired farmer and rancher.
Surviving are his wife; one son,
Richard Eudy of Bogata; a stepson,
Ezerll Lemons of Tyhler; two adopted
children, Carol Cooper of Clarksville
and Rex Wade Eudy of Bogata; three
brothers. Bill Eudy of Bogata, Lonzo
Eudy of Cuthand and Randall Eudy
of Johntown; two sisters, Shirley Hcr-
veyof Johntown and Mozelle Mintcr
of Farmers Branch; seven grandchil-
dren and five great-grandchildren.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Rufus Williams
Dies December 19
Rufus Williams, 82, of Bogata,
died Tuesday, December 19 in Red
River Haven Nursing Home.
Services were held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, December 20 at the
Bogata Church of Christ with Benny
Cogbum and Jamie Duncan officiat-
ing. Burial was in Bogata Cemetery
by Bogata Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams was bom March 10,
1907 in Groesbeck, a son of Frank
Slusher home were Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Carver and Courtney of Arlington,
Harry Slusher of Cunningham, Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Taylor of Paris, Mr.
and Mrs. George Struve, Sarah and
Katie of Paris and Mr. and Mrs. Todd
Varner and Jo Kyle of Paris.
Visitors of the Harry Slushers for
Christmas day lunch were Mr. and
Mrs. Clyde Slusher of Cunningham,
Mr. and Mrs. John Hall of Detroit.
Afternoon visitors were Mrs. Bret
Holbert and Colt of Paris and Mr. and
Mrs. Mike Taylor and Charles of
Paris.

Surviving are his wife; one son,

dren. He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Joy Nell Wilson in 1988.
Jay C. Johnson
Dies December 21
Jay C. Johnson, 79, of Deport, died
Thursday, December 21 at St. Jo-
seph's Hospital.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Satur-
day, December 23 at Grant Funeral
Home Chapel with burial in Spring
Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was bom April 10,
1910 in Stcphenville, a son of Ja
Perry and Martha Jane Brumbalo
Johnson. He married Bonnie Dougan*
on November 11, 1944 in Blossom.
He served in the Army during World
War II and was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are his wife; a son and
daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Sharon
Johnson of Deport; a daughter and
son-in-law, Modene and Jack Lentz
of Carrollton; one brother, Troy F.
Johnson of New Braunfels; five
grandchildren and six great-grand-
children.
Tom Baxter
Dies December 20
Tom Baxter of the Pinhook-
Faulkner community, Blossom, died
at McCuistion Medical Center on
Wednesday, December 20.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Fri-
day, December 22 at Fry and Gibbs
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Willie Johnson and Dr. Pat Otwcll
officiating. Burial was in Woodland
Cemetery.
Mr. Baxter was bom April 29,1899
in the Red Oak community of Lamar
County, a son of B.B. and Annie
Laurie Tippiu Baxter. He attended
Red Oak, Pinhook and Rosa Pearson
schools.
He married Mary Virginia (Ver-
gie) Brown on March 17, 1929 at
Woodland. They lived in the Pin-
hook-Faulkner community until five
years ago where he operated a store
for 50 years and was a rancher. He
retired from the grocery businessin
1960 and from ranching five years
ago. He was a member of the Wood-
land Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife; one daugh-
ter, Mrs. Jimmy (Tommie) Fodge of
Paris; two grandsons, Larry Fodge
and Kelly Fodge, both of Paris; two ,
great-grandchildren; and one sister,
Vera Linville of Arlington.
