cil of the City of La Grange, Texas,
That:
Section 1. Fire Limits.
The following portion I nd ,-irca

sisting of all of Blocks 18, 19, 20.
21, 22, 23, 32. 33 and 34 of tli >

Section 2. Construction Required
Within Fire Limits:
(a) No building, wall or struc-
ture of wooden, ironclad (whether
on wood or metal supports), stuc-
co or veneer type construction, or
any building the walls of which
contain wood supports, shall he
hereafter built, placed or con- i
structed within the fire limits, as
hereinabove defined, except as
permitted by Section 4 of this
ordinance.
(b) No building, wall or struc-
ture of wooden, ironclad (whether
on wood or metal supports), stuc-
co or veneer type construction, or
any building the walls of which
contain wood supports, shall bo
moved from without the fire lim-
its, as hereinabove defined, to
within said fire limits, nor from
one location to another within the
fire limits, except as permitted by
Section 4 of this ordinance.
(c) No additions to or extensions
of any building, wall or structure,
situated within the fire limits, ns
hereinabove defined, at the date
of the adoption of this ordinance
shall hereafter be made, built,
erected or constructed except such
additions or extensions as are in
conformity with the provisions of
Subsection (d) of this Section.
<d) Every building, wall or
structure hereafter built, erected,
constructed, altered or remodeled
and every extension of or addi-
tion to an existing building, wall
or structure hereafter made, built,
erected or constructed within the
fire limits, as hereinabove defined,
shall be enclosed on all sides with
walls constructed wholly of stone,
brick, reinforced concrete or hol-
low building tile and the roof

the wall* of which contain wood
supports, situated within the fire
limits, as hereinabove defined, at
the date of the adoption of this
ordinance, which may hereafter be
damaged by fire, decay, or other-
wise, to an amount greater than
one-third (1/8) of its value at the
date of the adoption of this ordin-
ance (exclusive of its foundation)
shall be repaired or rebuilt, but
shall be removed. Extensions, ad-
ditions and remodeling of walls,
structures and buildings situated
within the fire limits, as herein-
above described, shall not be con-
sidered as repairs and are permit-
ted only when made in conformity
with Section 2, Subsection (d) of
this ordinance.
(b) No existing roof or roof cov-
ering shall be renewed, replaced
or repaired to a greater extent
than ten (10) per cent of the roof
area or surface except in conform-
ity with this ordinance and in no
instance more than one permit be
issued for the repair and/or re-
placement of the roof or roof cov-
ering of any existing building with-
in the period of one year from
the issue of a previous permit un-
less such.repair or replacement
shall be of incombustible roof
covering as required under this
ordinance.
(c) No building, wall, structure,
roof, roof covering, or part there-
of, shall be rehuilt, repaired, re-
placed or renewed except in con-
formity with this ordinance except
as permitted by Subsection (a)
and (b) of this Section
Section 4. Framebuilding in Fire
Limits: The following frame struc-
tures are permistablc in the fire
limits:
(a) Temporary one-story frame
buildings for the use of builders.
(b) Wooden fences not over 8
feet high without roof or cover.
Section 5. Permits.
(a) No wall, structure, bulfding,
or part thereof, shall hereafter be
built within the fire limits, as
hereinabove defined, and no wall,
structure, building, or part there-
of, situated within the fire limits,
as hereinabove defined, shall be

with the City Secretary who shall

Building Inspector of the filing
thereof. One copy of all applica-
tions for building permits, plans
and specifications and all mater-
ial submitted In support thereof
shall be kept on file "by the City
Secretary.
(g) The City Building Inspector
shall examine all applications for
such building permits, the mater-
ial submitted therewith and. after
making such Inquiry and investi-
gation as may be desireable. Issue
a building permit, In duplicate, If
he finds that the proposed work
is In conformity with the provi-
sions of this ordinance. The origi-
nal of said building permit shall
be affixed to one copy of the ap-
plication submitted and delivered
to the applicant: the duplicate of
the building permit shall be filed
with the City Secretary who shall
keep the same on file with the
original application.
(h) Supplemental applications
shall be made In the event of devi-
ations, changes or alterations are
made during the course of aon-
struction of the wall, structure,
building, addition or extension for
which a permit has been granted
when the change, deviation or al-
teration from the plans and speci-
fications, as originally permitted,

that small one-story buildings of
less than 500 square feet floor

tion a fee of $1.00 which shall
likewise be paid Into the General
Fund of the City of La Grange
Section 9. Penalties.
Any and all persons, the owner,
the contractor and the person In
charge and responsible for mak-
ing repairs or performing the
work, who shall violate any sec-
tion or subsection of this Ordin
ance, or who shall fail to comply
with any section or subsection
hereof, or who shall fall to com-
ply with any order of the City
Building Inspector authorized here-
by. or who shall build or repair
any wall, bdlldlng, structure, ex-

I penalty for any violation of this
ordinance shall not excuse the
' violation or permit it to continue,
and each period of ten days that
| the violation continues without
correction shall constitute a sepa-
rate offense.
Section 10. Severability.
If any section, sub-section, para-
graph, subdivision, clause, phruse
or provision of this ordinance shall
be adjudged Invalid or held un-
constitutional, the same shall not
affect the validity of this ordin-
ance as a whole, or of any part
or provision hereof, other than
the part so held to be invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 11. Effective Date.
This ordinance shall take effect
and be In force- from and after
the passage hereof and the publi-
cation hereof required by the
general laws of the State of
Texas. ,
