Since November 3. 1922, it has been a pleasure for this -
writer to edit and manage The Record. Over four decades of the ^yawi
writer’s life has been an effort to be of service to the communi-
ty, state and nation. How well we have succeeded we leave to
the readers to evaluate.
During the forty-three years there has been a very small
turnover in the staff of The Record. A small number of employ-
ees have found more lucrative employment and left of their own
volition. Only one was fired for misconduct toward a customer.
We are happy to say that we have had very fine co-operation of
the employees, and correspondents; they have proved them-
selves to be true co-workers in oui efforts to ,’ive the people the
best possible newspaper and high class commercial printing.
The major part of whatever success we have had belongs to the
loyalty and devotion of our staff in all the phases of the plant.
We are especially proud of the fact that the head man in
our plant, the man who is in charge of the production of both
the newspaper and the commercial department, Mr. F. S. Bam-
buch, has been with The Record from the first issue of the pa-
per in 1922, and, we are happy to say that in these nearly forty-
three years, we have not had a major disagreement. What we
have accomplished over the years is largely due to the loyalty
of our colleague—Mr. Bambuch—and the other faithful mem-
bers of our staff.
Our editorial and news office has been staffed by good, re-
liable and efficient men and women who are due credit to tne
popularity of The Record, which has almost as many subscri-
bers in Fayette County as all the other newspapers in the Coun-
ty-
With tliis issue this writer bows out with a deep feeling of
gratitude to all our associates, partners, employees, correspon-
dents, subscribers, and advertisers. We hope our successor will
have the same loyal support of all who have contributed so
much to our achievement in managing and editing The Record.
Gratefully yours,
L. J. Sulak, retiring editor
