achieved at the Christmas party

School Department of ,he Hawkins
First Baptist Church Saturday.
The boys and Kills broukht toys
to be given to needy children and
the officers and teachers of the de-
partment hrnuKhl bags of fruit and
nuts. Each class in the department
will be responsible for distributing
the boxes to the less fortunate in
the community. Each boy and girl
seemed to receive an added Joy in
the spirit o.* giving during the
Christmas season.
A Christmas atmosphere was
created as the social hall was deco-
rated with holly boughs and green-
ery. The cedar tree was beauti-
fully trimmed with colorful lights,
balls, icycles and tensel.
Emory Estes, superintendent, in-
troduced the various classes who
presented humorous skits. After
the different groups had perform-
ed, Glenn Faison, educational di-
rector, led several Christmas car-
ols.
Santa Claus, in the form of Bill
Becker, presented the gifts.
Refreshments of cookies, cold
drinks and salted nuts were serv-
ed. Adult teachers, officers and
their families attending were Mr.
Estes, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Beck-
er, Mrs. C. C. Sims, Mr. and Mrs.
Ballard Caffey, Mra. Joe Foster,
Mrs. Y. H. Davis, Mr. and Mrs.
Loyd Faison. Guests were Mrs.
Julia Grecson, Glenn Faison, Miss
Jeaninne Becker and Mrs. R.
Crenwelge. Thirty boys and girls
attended the party.

tertained the small children in the
Humble Camp at the Recreation
Hall with a Christmas party on

C. F McLaren, Mrs. Lacy Truell
and Mrs. E. L. Harper.
Santa was present to give gifts

! Christmas, while others stared at

Refreshments ol cold drinks,
white cukes with Christmas deco-
rations and mints were served. The
: favors were boots filled with
| candy.
The hull was decorated with a
; tree, red bells hanging from the
! ceiling with red ribbons. The re-
freshment table was covered with
red and green paper and the color
! scheme was carried out in the re-
freshments.
Attending were: Billy and Stevie
Schaefer, Nancy Barton, Jimmy
Mathis, Gerald Bob, and Sissy Rus-
sell, Judy Compton, Pat and Ann
Lubanks, Judy Carter, Joe Truell,

Mrs. C C. Sims, Hawkins, was
hostess to the Fideiis Sunday
School Class of the First Baptist
Church recently
Mrs. Siim home was beautifully
decorate*! with a lovely Christmas
tree, and mantle decorations were
pine cones, red balls and candles.
The social was opened with
prayer, followed by the birth of
Christ from the second Chapter of
the Book of Luke, verses 1-14, giv-
en by Mrs. R. M Fender. The
group sang "Blest Be the Tie” and
"Silent Night,"
Mrs. John Burns presented Mrs.
Sims, class tcaehci. a lovely gift
from the group. Mrs. C. D. Osburn
and Mrs. Fender were given guest
towels for attending the most Sun-
days during the year.
Santa Claus was present and
presided at the tree. Gifts were ex-
changed and refreshments of sand-
wjehes, mints, and coffee were
served to: Mrs. J. E. Falls, Mrs.
Burns, Mrs. J. A. Cooper, Mrs R.
Crenwelge, Mrs. Cochran, Mrs.
Mattie Harrell, Mrs. I. C. Lewis,
Mrs. E. J. Ader, Mrs. O. W. Luns-

Scout Meeting

The annual Christmas party for
the hanufapped children of East
Texas wi i held Friday evening,
December 15, at the Woman's
Building on the Kilgore College
Campus.
The party was sponsored by the
East Texas Society for Cerebral
Palsy and Other Handicapped
Children. The generosity of T. M.
Armstrong of Gladewater gave the
children a gala evening with the
visit of Santa in his sleigh and the
distribution of gifts and a bag of
treats for each one.
Entertainment for the evening
was the singing of Christmas car-
ols and Christmas 1.1ms which
were shown to the group.
The building was made festive
with a tree, snowmen, snowflakes
and otne. Yuletide decorations
made by the children ut the special
school.
Part of the fund was set aside
to be used by the children in buy-
ing educational toys for the treat-
ment center. The therapists. Miss
Jane Does and Miss Mary Schind-
ler, will supervise the selecting of
the toys.
The parents, therapists and spec-
ial education teachers made up the
various committees in arranging
the party. Thirty-five handicaps
with their families enjoyed the
party.
