Shivers Urges Caution
During Yule Holidays
AUSTIN. Dec. 19. (U.R)—Gov.
Allan Shivers today called for
extra caution "on everybody’s part,
driver and pedestrian alike,” dur-
ing the Christmas holidays.
The Department of Public Saf-
ety has predicted 211 Texans will
die violent deaths during the holi-
days, 105 of them in traffic acci-
dents.
The traffic forecast is for 19
deaths on Christmas eve. Last
ycar’t predictiort of 16 was exactly
correct.
"I earnestly hope,” the Gover-
nor said, “that each resident of our
state, and each visitor, will as-
sume individual responsibility for
avoiding aeddents of all kinds. If
we do this, we really can keep the
Christmas spirit—and All of us—
alive this year.”
