o’clock in the afternoon Dec.
29, in a candlelight ceremony at
Flctcher-Emanucl Baptist
Church in Lumbcrton with the
Rev. Larry Seaman, uncle of the
bride; perfomting the double
ring, ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Ctirol Pounders and James Sea-
man of Lumbcrton.
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Allen Hightower of
Silsbcc. He is the grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. S.D.' Brooks of
Anahuac and Mavis Hightower
of Baytown.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a lovely
blus)i satin gown reminiscent of
the - kmaissance period. The
gown featured a softly curved
neckline with satin bows accent-
ing the shoulders.
The bodied was heavily
beaded with bridal pearls, iridcs-
cents and Austrian crystals.
From the bodice, a V-shaped pe-
plum and skirt flowed to cathed-
ral length. The' entire hemline
1 was bordered with sequins,
of sparkle florets and entwined
with lace and satin ribbons.

Silsbce, sister of the groom.
Attendants were gowned alike
in tea-length formal gowns of
mauve lace and moire taffeta de-
signed with full skirts softly
gathered to slender princess bo-
dices. The gowns 1 featured
dropped waistlines accented
with satin bows at the backs. &
They carried white lace fans
encrusted with pink and mauve
roses, baby’s breath, multiples

mony, the altar was decorated
with tall white columns totped
with cascading greenery intert-
wined with tiny clear lights.
Two heart-shaped candelabrum.
Hanked an arch intertwined with
greenery and mauve bows.
Family pews were marked
with mauve bows and sparkle
florets.
Providing music for the occa-
sion were organist Terry Neel
and vocalists Kathy and Butch
Seaman, aunt and cousin of the
bride. “
Selections included “You and
I,” “Nobody Loves Me Like
You Do,” “Flesh of My Flesh”
and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
A wedding reception was held
following die wedding cere-
mony in the Fletcher-Emanue!
Baptist Church Family Center.
The bride js a graduate of
Lumbcrton High 'School and is
currently employed with Palais
Ro/al in Beaumont.
The groom is a graduate of
Silsbee High School. He is em-
ployed with Wal-Mart in
Lumberton.
The couple attend Lamar Uni-
versity in Beaumont.
Following'a wedding trip to
Galveston, the couple reside in
Lumbcrton.
Parties
The rehearsal dinner was
hosted by the groom’s parents at
the Lumber Company in Silsbee
the evening preceding the
wedding.
Piano festival set Feb. 9

The Lee College Music De-
partment and the San Jacinto
Music Teachers Association will
sponsor the annual piano festival
Feb. 9 in the music wing of
Walter Rundcll Hall on the cam-
pus of Lee College. Co-
chairmen for this annual event
will be Diane Daves and Tom
Stone. In charge of securing ad-
judicators is Denise Thompson.
» Music students of teachers as-
sociated with the association
.will perform before judges to re-
ceive ratings of superior, excel-
lent or good. Performances will
include 184 students with each
student required to perform two
pieces in private before the
judges. - •
Teachers participating in the
Festival include Natalie Altman,
Barbara Biggcrs, Nedra Bradley,
Ms. Daves, Linda Hafer, Zsa
Zsa Jenkins, Ms. Thompson, Er-
nestine Shows, Stone, Pat West
and Etta Wright. ' V.
Music Department of Houston
Community College System,
Westchester Campus. She also
teaches piano and theory at her
independent studio and performs
regularly on faculty recitals.
Holding a bachelor’s degree
in music education from the
UniVerSity of Houston, where
she also studied piano with Dr.
Edyth Wagner and Albert Hirsh,
she has also studied with Wil-
liam Chaisson of the Shepherd
School of Music; Rice
University. ■
Ms. Merrill received a bache-
lor’s and master’s degree in ap-
plied piano at the American
Conservatory of Music in Chi-
cago, 111. Ms. Merrill has taught
md she also maintains a privtue *koth piano and voice at the Uni-
tiittfatta well. She- is a member versity of Texas at El Paso and
served as pianist forsthe El Paso
. Symphony Orchestra for seven
years.

Ms. Chee of Houston, is an
independent piano and theory
teacher. She holds a bachelor’s

cut College in New London,
Conn., and has more than 20
years of piano teaching experi-
ence in southwest Houston as
well as five years of teaching
music in the pre-school and kin-
dergarten levels.
Ms. DeAmaral received a ba-
chelor of music degree and a
master of music degree in piano
performance at the University of
Houston. She is an instructor at
Houston Community College
