Band's Activities
Keep Members Busy
An organization known as one
of the busiest of Weatherford
High School clubs is the band.
Last week the band presented
the football and band sweethearts
during halftime of the Longview
game. The following Satruday,
October 6, the band participated
along with more than forty other
bands in a parade in downtown
Fort Worth. Two bands showing
the best performance were picked
to march for the T. C. U. - Arkan-
sas game. Although Weatherford
didn’t win the prize, all members
ha'd a very enjoyable day. The
band had lunch at Forest Park
after the parade and attended the
T.C.U. - Arkansas football game
that afternoon.
This week on Tuesday, the band
attended the State Fair. Two char-
tered buses carrying the Weather-
ford High School Band left the
school at 8:30 A.M. and returned
from Dallas Tuesday evening.
Freshman Class
Elects Officers
For the purpose of electing of-
ficers for the coming year, the
Freshmen had their first class
meeting of the year. The meeting
took place last week during home-
room period.
Nominated for the office of
president were Betty Lamar, C. A.
Atchinson, Richard Rockwell,
Robert West, Jim Taylor, and Bet-
ty Witherspoon.
By a suggestion from a fresh-
man sponsor, the class voted to
let the runner - up for the of-
fice of president be the vice-pres-
ident. In the run - offs Richard
Rockwell came out on top in the
office of president, and Betty La-
mar holds the office of vice-pres-
ident.
Because there was not suffi-
cient time for further nominations
and voting, only these two posi-
tions were filled. At the next
meeting, the other officers will be
voted upon.

Strange Questions
Intrique Y-Teens
Dating and Mating! Is it inter-
esting, not so interesting, or bor-
ing?
This was one of the questions
on the questionnaires passed out
at the first meeting of the Y-teens
this month. The questionnaires
were filled out by each girl who
is eligible for membership this
year. The questions were asked
so that the leaders and sponsors
of the organization may decide in
which group the girls belong. They
covered various phases of three
groups, social, fine arts, and rec-
reational.
The minutes were read by sec-
retary Maryonna Barnes. Reports
from meetings of the executive
council and committee chairmen
were given.
The dues of fifty cents for the
year were announced by presi-
dent Margie Martsolf.
Mrs. Knox Childress talked to
the girls and explained the pur-
pose of the Y-teens. She also ex-
plained that the Y-teens, a part
of the Young Women’s Christian
Association, is a world - wide or-
ganization. She also discussed the
possibility of Weatherford High
School’s Y-teens being able to
visit a Y. W. C. A. center near
here sometime this year.
