Rolling
With The
Roos
Tonight the ’Roos are. going to
try to break their losing streak as
they travel to Gainesville. The
’Roos wil be out there trying their
very best to down the Leopards.
The very least we can do is to
travel to Gainesville tonight and
back our ’Roos.
The past two weeks have been
rough ones for the ’Roos. They
lost a game to the Poly Parrots of
Fort Worth ancl also one to the
Longview Lobos.
In the 18-0 defeat handed to
Weatherford by the Parrots, Guard
Ted Hartness received an injured
eye and was unable to play against
Longview. Ted is expected to be
ready for tonight’s game with
Gainesville.
Halfback Bob Eason, who has
been out all season because of a
broken collar bone, is raring to
go and will probably be ready to
play by our first conference date,
October 26.
Last Friday night’s game with
Longview was realy a good one.
The score was 7-7 at the half and
all through the last half the ’Roos
put up a good battle. But because
of a bigger team with larger boys
and more reserves, the Loboes
came out on top by a score of
21-7.
All the ’Roos played a good game
but some of the boys stood out as
doing outstanding work. Ned Dic-
key played an awfully good game
at fullback and as defensive line-
backer. Joe Kelley did a good job
punting. He kicked once, and the
ball rolled out on the two yard
line, Another of his kicks rolled
out on the five. Harold Liddell
caught a 51 - yard pass from
Kelley and scored the ’Roos lone
touchdown.
So, wishing to end this gab ses-
sion very fast, I say . . . “LICK
THOSE LEOPARDS.”

Roos Defeated By
Poly, Longview
The Weatherford Kangaroos
were given their second and third
losses of the season by Polytech-
nic and Longview. Last Friday
night Longview rolled to a 21-7
victory over the Kangaroos here
and Saturday night, September
29, Polytechnic gave the Kanga-
roos a 18-0 loss.
Longview’s first score occurred
in the first quarter to climax a $5-
yard drive. Weatherford got back
in the game on the first play of
the second quarter as halfback,
Joe Kelley, hit end Harold Liddell
for a touchdown and to tie the
score. In the second half Long-
view scored on drives on 54 and
98 yards to go on and win 21-7.
The Polytechnic Parrotts shut
the Kangaroos out by the score
of 18-0. The Parrots who hadn’t
won a game since 1954, took the
lead in the first quarter and led
all the way.
