restoration of the Yoakum
Elevator Company building.
Once used as a cotton gin,
this historic structure is now
an impressive, modern facil-
ity. Poth Schumacher saw the
charm of the old building and
was sure of its potential. She
spent the past year painstak-
ingly saving the beautiful old
flooring and other interesting
architectural details, creating
new work areas and offices,
and decorating. The unusual
new office building has ample
space for the product show-
room, administrative offices,
the equipment service center,
the printing operation and the
shipping area.
Dewitt Poth, located at 102
West St. in Yoakum, currently
employs twenty people. The
company’s goal is to con-
tinue to grow while providing
excellent customer service
to the many new custom-
ers and those who’ve been
loyal customers for years.

Rotary Club still
searching for
service personnel
If you have a loved one,
relative or friend serving our
country in Iraq, the Rotary
Club of Yoakum would appre-
ciate your help in providing
their mailing addresses. Area
Rotarians would like to thank
them personally for defending
and protecting our American
way of life.
For the past two years, the
Yoakum Rotary Club has, with
the help of other local ser-
vice clubs and organizations,
mailed gift items in bulk to our
military personnel in Iraq.This
year, each individual Rotarian
is preparing a box of personal
items and would like to make
the effort more meaningful by
sending it directly to a special
soldier whose name they have
been given.
The Rotary Club’s goal is to
prepare and ship a minimum
of 60 individual boxes to let
these brave patriots know how
much we care about them.The
purpose is to show the men
and women in our military that
they have the support of their
community as well as that of
their friends and family.
If you are willing to share
names and addresses with
Rotary Club members, please
contact Alan Sommer at 772-
8605 or Ann Seidenberger at
293-2352.
