On November 22, 1963 at approximately 1*16 PM, while working squad
105, Officers: Joe M. Poe #1175 and Jez #1^79 were working
crowd control at the scene of the murder of President Kennedy,
Kim and Houston Streets. The officers heard a police officer was
involved in a shooting at *+00 E. 10th.
The officers went to the scene, Code 3* **^0 block L. Tenth St.
where we found stuad car #10 parked at the south curb and a pool
of blood at the left front fender.
We were met by a white female who identified herself as Helen
Marselle, 328 L, 9th Street, who stated she witnessed the shooting
of the officer. When she went to his aid the sib pect threatened
to kill her and she ran. She identified the subject as a white
male about 25 years old, 5*10", slender build, bushy hair, wearing
a brown jacket.
An unidentified witness gave Officer J. M. Poe two empty hulls in
an empty cigarette pack anr stated these were the bullets that
killed the officer, and that the suspect reloaded the gun as he
ran across the church lawn. These two hulls were released to
Serfeart Pete Barnes of the Crime Scene Search Section while at
the scene.
Thrre were anrr^ximately sir to eight witnesses, all telling officers
that the subject was running west in the alley between Tenth and
Jefferson Streets.
