with Austria. The Emperor of Russia sent a-large army to aid
the "Afistr'ians. Over these united lorccs, the Hungarians have
been victorious. The struggle of a brave people for independence
"-cannot. "Be viewed without great interest and mueh feeling by the
VestMU-wriklnd. The English Ministry are said to have an eye to
the movements of Russia. They are now, and have been, jealous
" of the growing power of each other. Should the British Cabinet
find a pretext-for intervention, and thus become embroiled in the
contest, it would create a general European war. In which event,
if Lous Napoleon has one "drop of democratic blood in his veins, lit
will be comnelled to recommend the propriety of Prance standing
as the ally of. Great Britain.
The people of Hungary are entitled 'o the sympathy of every
lover of freedom. The interference cf Russia is strictly a move-
ment in favor of-despotism. IMaj Hungary greet her with a bloody
welcome.
