This Monday morning finds
things in Dougherty are
pretty good. It is so nice
sitting on the back porch
listening to the birds and
watching the little humming-
birds drink.
School bells are ringing once
more as I was carrying Joey to
school. I got caught up in the
seniors car caravan. 1 think
there were about 70 cars but it
was kinda nice. When I was a
senior not one of us had a car.
Was sorry to hear that Phylis
Friday's mother will be having
surgery soon. She lives in
Kansas. I hope she will do real
well.
Shirley Garrett is feeling
better this week and I hope she
continues to do good because I
know she is ready to get in her
travel trailer and go some-
where.
Bro. Paul Anderson is
having a birthday today.
Pete Adams and one of his
workers from Spring, TX was
here for the weekend at his
farm. While here Pat and James
Shipman came to see them and
Pat cooked their simper. She
called Loretta and 1 to come
over and of course we did. Sure
had a good time. While there
we walked around Aunt Exa
and Uncle Stanley's old house
and of course it makes me
think of a tale to tell. It was
probably on a Sunday after-
noon and the kids were at Aunt
Exa and Uncle Stanley's house.
Theirhog pen was close to the
bam, Bill and Travis Potts, Jed
Adams, Bobby Joe Asbill and I
think Buddy and Ivan Mitchell
were there too. Anyway they
were chunking wasps nests ana
for the ones that don't know
how to do it, you would throw
the rock at tne nest and then
run, lay flat on the ground and
the wasps would fly over you.
These boys were about eignt to
ten years old. While chunking
the wasps nest Leaton Ely ana
Octave Woods came by on
their horses and of course these
boys were older and they said
to the younger kids, "Just go
up there and pull the nest."
Well, Bill Potts said he
thought he was the toughest
and so he tried to pull the nest.
The rest is history,he got stung
so many times and his head
swelled up so big it was a
wonder he didn't die from the
stings. Of course, you didn't go
the a doctor.
Homer and Emma Lee
Robertson will be coming
home today from their vaca-
tion. We were with them for a
couple of weeks. We sure had a
good time.
I saw Bunk and Fredia
Gilbert dining out with Norjvin
and Tommie Lennon. They
seemed to be having such fun.
Last Sunday C.F. and I had
Springs, ----------
Brooks from Vernon and Larue
Jacobs from Centerview for
lunch. We all had a good time
as it was the first visit for the
Brooks to our home.
Mrs. Vera Fletcher celebrated
her birthday Sunday with her
daughter Peggy. Tney spent
some time with Edd. He is
doing pretty good.
Mother had a few ladies for
supper Thursday night to cele-
brate Francis Wilkerson birth-
day. I wont reveal how many
years but I know. Those there
were Emma Miller, Mary
Pound, Dean Hopkins, Lodessa
Cobb and Mamie Watson.
