Plans September Wedding
Mrs. Christina Conway of
Waco announces the engage-
ment of her daughter, Cas-
sandra Jane Haddox, to Ken-
neth Lane Bowen, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J, E. Bowen of
Houston. The wedding will be
in Austin on September 1.
Miss Haddox is a graduate
of Mercedes high school and
has attended the University
of Texas. She is employed
by the Veteran's Adminis-
tration in Austin.
Mr. Bowen, a graduate of
San Jacinto high school in
Houston, is working for the
Internal Revenue Service and
completing the requirements
for his Master's Degree
in Business Administration,
with a major in Statistics and
Data Processing, from the
University of T exas.
‘Keynote on Missions’ Program
For Dorcas Aid Society Meeting
Mrs. Ray Stern present-
ed the program, “Keynote
on Missions-by Dr. Theador
Raedeke", for the Dorcas
Aid Society of the Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Merce-
des July 13.
A business meeting was

were collected. A social
hour following the program

Mrs. L. A. Clark gave a
program on Buddhism for the
Methodist Woman's Society
for Christian Service meet-
ing July 11 at the Methodist
Parsonage.
Mrs. M. R. Lawler, pres-
ident of the organization,
presided. Mrs. T. A. Rowe,
program chairman, intro-
duced Mrs. Clark.
Hostesses for the meet-
ing were Mrs. Gilson Knapp
and Mrs. E.'E. Marchant.

at Amarillo.
International Council Pre-
sident Mrs. Ralph Ramsey
of Wichita, Kan., will pre-
side at the convention. Mrs.
Joan Monson of Omaha, Neb.,
is general convention chair-
man*
The theme of the conven-
tion is “Rhythm of the Roc-
kies*’ and a few of the acti-
vities will include workshops
Thursday and Friday after-
noons; a “Mile Hi Jam-
boree" mixer party Friday
evening; and a “Ballads of
the West" luncheon Saturday
noon.
Saturday evening will fea-
ture a presidential banquet
honoring Mrs. Ramsey with
an installation of newly-
elected 1967-68 Internation-
al officers following the ban-
quet.
The Texas delegation will
support Mrs. A. O. Brink of
Coleman, Texas, for the of-
fice of International Coun-
cil parliamentarian. Ap-
proximately 75 members
from Texas will be in at-
tendance. The seven mem-
bers from the local chap-
ter, Gamma Lambda, is the
largest representation from
any one chapter in atten-
dance.
The Mercedes' chartered
bus will leave Denver on the
return trip Sunday afternoon,
arriving in Mercedes at ap-
proximately 6:45 Monday
evening.
